Trust me, from one decent human being to another, living in this apartment was the worst decision I have ever made. Not only is there animal urine and feces ALL over the premises, but its loud and poorly maintained. The rent is exorbitant for what you are getting, and the management is not helpful in the least. On top of all this, they will NOT give you back your deposit. After leaving my apartment is great shape, they took the whole deposit and put it toward renovating the apartment, leaving me with an additional balance of $200. Seriously, I would not want ANYONE to experience what I went through.

What were you expecting, the Taj Mahal? The building takes pets, do the math. Lots of pet owners give the rest a bad name. The maintenance staff is better than average. As for you not getting your deposit back, if they truly took it for renovations, that's illegal. Don't whine about it here --fight for your money with the law.

For the insane rent they're charging, I expect better, yes. New management/ownership comes in and instead of fixing current problems, or asking residents what they need, they tear up the pool area, build a frickin' waterfall (???) and put in energy wasting propane fireplaces in the courtyard? It's L.A. It's like a thousand degrees in the shade. What the heck do we need with fireplaces? An owner with a brain would have done something like put solar panels on that giant roof (while leaving the barbecue areas alone for residents to continue using at night), get a tax break from the city gov't for going green to help pay off their debt from the purchase of the building, and stop charging utilities to the tenants as an incentive to get them to stay. But then a move like that would have required forethought, brains, and at least an ATTEMPT to make TENANTS lives better in a REAL way by reducing their cost of living.
