I don't know about the Anonymous reviews here, but here is a real review by a real tenant. I say if you have something negative to say, reveal yourself since there a lot of people involved here (tenants, management, prospects, etc) and credibility is key. Yes, you aren't getting the Ritz Carlton or the Four Seasons, but you aren't paying Ritz Carleton or Four Seasons rates.
The Visconti is a great apartment in all aspects. I moved into the Visconti in April 2007 from the Piero (sister building), I specifically followed Nelson and Ashley after finding out they were working there. They have always been responsive, courteous, delightful individuals to work with.
Parking: Parking is safe and convenient. When I moved in early 2007, there were not that many cars and management was actually nice enough to let people park where they want. After the building started getting full, parking spots were assigned and then *enforced*. Considering the massive timing & logistics & occassional-abuse (people parking in wrong spots or actually inviting guests to park in spots not their own!), the staff pulled it off quite well. There will always be complainers but the fact of the matter is that parking is assigned, parking is reliable, parking is safe. Simple. Sure you may not get the spot 10 feet from your apartment unit compared to the guy who moved in on Day 1, but they do their best to find the best spot for your preferences. Guest parking is oftentimes full, this is a HUGE apartment with many units and many guests. However, there is plenty of street parking behind the building which *you simply will not get* in other parts of downtown.
Noise: The Visconti is one of the quieter of the buildings I've lived in downtown LA. I've lived at Piero and at Museum Tower and can say that the only noise I encounter is the peaceful sounds of the water fountain. When it is late night on a friday or saturday, you may hear some people talking loud but a simple call to the security desk will extinguish that within minutes. This is the case whether you're staying at the Visconti or the Ritz Carlton, plain and simple.
Grounds: The grounds are very nice and clean, and I should know - I use the gym, library, conference room nearly every day. Even the front venetian (tuscan') style lobby for guests and visitors. I have personally seen Nelson bend over to pick up scraps on the public grounds and even wipe smudges on windows. Attention to detail is a fact of life here and not just an advertisement.
Safety: Exterior and interior lighting in public areas is very bright 24x7, and the breathtaking lobby is always staffed by friendly and attentive security. I liked Dennis and Gerald the security guards at the Piero, and I was ecstatic to find them working here at the Visconti as well.
Construction: Construction is high quality just like at the Piero. Our AC unit gets noisy every now and then but after I called Nelson, they promptly came up and cleaned the filter on my AC unit to allow more unobstructed airflow. A FABULOUS addition to the Visconti units is the large marble dining table-bar area, for those who prefer to eat close to the kitchen and want easy clean-up. Well done mr. visconti.
Maintenance: Maintenance has tended to my every need quickly and accurately. I've had 2 circuits blown out (from a bad paper shredder) and each time the maintenance guys would come asap and fix it. I've also needed an electronic key (not your unsecure brass type, another well done mr. visconti) made for me and got it same day from Ashley. Like I said, I moved here due to the management and now get great management and a great place to live.
Staff: Great staff - Nelson, Ashley and Pat are the ones I interact with the most and have had the best experiences with out of any downtown LA apartment. I've lived 4 downtown LA apartments in the past 6 years, and have enjoyed living at the Visconti the most.
Other: Aerioconnect is the provider of tv, internet and optional VOIP services for the building. I ordered the 4mb/1.5mb internet plan with static IP (an option), 250 channels including movie, 2 hdtv receivers on 2 TV's, and unlimited nationwide VOIP phone service, all for about $140. If I had ordered those separately, believe me I would be paying a lot more. If you want to just get 1 TV, basic satellite tv packages are about $30-40 and internet of 1mb/512kb is about $12.99. Furthermore I've dealt with Aerioconnect customer service (dorothy & niki are the ones i've dealt with), and since they are not a huge Qwest or baby Bell, they can give you personalized customer service. The building also provides free Wifi access at many points in the building including shared (i'm actually sitting from my apartment and can use the free wifi 'viscontifreewireless' access point). So although the building has an exclusive with Aerioconnect, mr. visconti is giving you Free, fast wifi internet. No $40/mo starbucks hotspot required. No AT&T edge card. Free.
Overall: The Visconti is an excellent place to live, the management is superb, the construction is always new & improved (this is one of many predecessors), and the location in downtown LA is quick and accessible to major streets and freeways. Believe me, you don't want to be stuck in south park AKA traffic-jam park at 9am or at 5pm in the day. Consider this a REAL review by a REAL satisfied tenant, I will be highly recommending the Visconti to friends and co-workers in search of downtown housing.
