Renovations - Non-union, w/o permit, under the table

You can see from the street that the owner is renovating that building - to sell, improve, increase rent' We live nearby and no permits are posted onsite at this time - a few mos. into their construction process. It is a fairly old building - built in the era before certain building materials were outlawed. In addition to removing old stucco on the exterior of bldg, they are removing "popcorn" ceiling materials, old paint, some walls and doors it seems - no were these surfaces tested for dangerous substances' If so, that should be posted. If not, they are risking lung cancer for anyone exposed. Hopefully, there is nothing (asbestos, lead, other chemicals) which cause cancer or exacerbate asthma, etc. But it seems there was no effort taken to ensure that this undocumented removal won't harm the health of residents, workers or neighbors. Not sure of Owner's name or the contractor's name - both of which ought to be posted I suspect. Not sure who the manager is. They also removed all the palm tress that were giving shade to the sunny, south side of the building. Two of those palm trees were moved next to their pool - by breaking up the adjoining patio concrete. Hopefully, it was done in a way that won't lead to damage to their adjacent pool. The resulting building and apartments may be nicer, but by not posting the permits it suggests the owners are not following codes and are willing to endanger their workers as well as residents and neighbors. Slum lord behavior, as talked about above in earlier messages. Someone should post the Owner's name, etc, here in case anyone exposed gets ill with lung cancer or asthma in the next 20-30 years, which is how long that can take to develop.
