People make the difference, and when you have a caring, conscientious owner like Peter Tang, the owner of La Mar Apartments, you can't lose.

Peter is the most attentive landlord I have ever encountered under any circumstance. He is busy with upgrades on the grounds almost every day, even though he also has a friendly full-time live-in property manager on the grounds at all times and an excellent repairman as well. He is friendly, approachable, and attentive to maintanance and/or any other issues. Peter and his lovely wife go the extra mile when it comes to tenant attention.

The apartments aren't much to see from the outside, (very simple and box-like) but step inside to the courtyard and see the lovely green grass (great for kids to play upon) the rose beds, the community room, the pool, and the latticed patio area which are all well-kept. Many of the tenants take pride in their individual frontage and balconies, plants are blooming everywhere. Certainly something you don't see everyday with rental properties!

The interiors of the apartments are very simple but well planned, and Peter is terrific about upgrading. When we moved in, he had just replaced all of the kitchen appliances with brand new ones, including the dishwasher! I love having a private balcony. Even downstairs units have a latching gate for each patio area.

Heat in the summer is an issue, but with window AC units available for less than $200 these days, we picked one up and popped it into the bedroom window. If we keep the blinds closed to keep the heat of the sun out, it can actually keep the entire apartment bearable at the pinacle of Summer.

Location could not be better. A couple of blocks from the Hwy 17 entrance ramp. Less than two blocks (such an easy walk) to the Los Gatos Creek Park, which leads directly to the gorgeous Vasona Lake Park... perfectly lovely. A brand new Trader Joe's, Ace Hardware, Office Depot, Nob Hill Foods, and a handy UPS store are all within a just a few blocks.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention something very important to me... they are very pet friendly!

As for those who did not recommend this complex, you can't please everyone. Peter runs a tight ship and that is much appreciated by someone who wants a quiet, friendly place to live without problems! That being said, in comparing the statistics of other Los Gatos apartments, be sure you notice that those complexes who have 100% only have a very few reviews. La Mar Apartment complex has MANY reviews, with only a couple of "bad apple" stats. The vast number of contented tenant reviews speaks for itself.
