Facts to Know Before Choosing Archstone

1. A majority of the apartments in this complex are subject to a lot of noise. On the North side of the complex, there is Oakwood apartments (short-term corporate housing) which is filled with loud, obnoxious college kids and transient guests who tend to party all night long. When you call the managers they do not answer, so the next step is to call the police -- who never come.
2. Unlike every other area of LA County, the rent here is NOT stabilized, which means that they can, and will raise your rent up to 20% each year. Our rent was raised $400 the first year, and will be raised by $550 again this year. That is almost $1000 increase in 2 years. There is NO negotiating the terms. Either pay through your nose, or move. We will choose the latter of the two options, because this place just isn't worth it. There are nicer, more affordable apartments all over the city.
3. The "dog park" is also a nuisance. While we love pets, and believe dogs should be accommodated, the barking dogs (and noisy owners) are constant.
4. The parking enforcement company they are contracted with function less like security, and more like ghetto thugs. Numerous tenants and guests have had their cars booted, and were required to pay hundreds of dollars in fees. Why my mother cannot park in guest parking, without risking a ticket, tow, or boot is beyond my imagination at these rates for rent -- but Archstone supports and condones these policies.
5. The apartment complex next door,Del Rey Shores, located on the South side of Archstone property -- -- is slated for demolition this year. If you rent any apartment facing that direction, you will first deal with the demolition, and then noise from the construction while they take the next few years to build a 500 complex. The entire South side of the Archstone complex will be virtually uninhabitable soon -- but the leasing office isn't going to tell you that before they have you by the throat with a 1 year lease at a premium rate.

I can assure you -- Archstone negotiates nothing. They tried to raise our rent from $2750 to $3600 for a two bedroom apartment.

It seems that the two people responding, state that the writer is wrong. Well it seems pretty consistent with everyone else. I have a feeling these individuals or individual probably works with Archstone in some way. In no way was the writer being an ass, they were just venting. Clearly with you unnecessary response, you are though.
