The first week of moving here makes you think this place is flawless when in all fact there are alot of flaws about this complex. Before moving they do not tell you that you can not have a cable or internet service other than the one they offer. They host a website where you can choose "several" companies, when in all fact there is only one company. The cable service they offer only holds 57 channels and costs more than any other standard cable company. They do however have a satellite dish that you can connect to for an extra fee. The internet service states that is it a broadband service when in all truth it is running at 56k speed all the time. This is because they run one line to their router that connects to each apartment in the complex. If there are 100 people in the complex using the internet at the same time then the internet will lag, making it difficult to search the net at high speeds.
Complaining about these issues do nothing. They say that there is no way for an outside company to lay a line within the complex. I called these companies and they said the manager is refusing the offers they offered to lay down a "FREE" line. I tried to contact the manager but she doesn't return my calls or reply to my emails which is also difficult to find by using their website: http://www.myarchstone.com. They say she is a really busy person and can not further assist me with this issue.
Sound is a terrible issue here. The patio faces another patio causing an echoing effect. You can hear someone sneezing in their apartment as if they were sneezing in your home. If someone has a party after 10 pm, they have to enter their apartment and close all the windows to be sure it doesn't disturb the other tenants. If you have privacy issues be prepaired to live with closed windows.
This is great place to live if you do not plan on staying indoors as often as I do. A great vacation spot since the beach is only 3 blocks away. Great location. Shopping, gas and food is very close.

The broadband/TV issue is something that is rampant down in the marina. Marina Harbor has the some problem - you can only get internet from some hack of a company for $50 and 56K like speeds.

I too live in an Archstone Community and the only cable/satellite offered is through Clearbay, who are overpriced and rude. I would rather go without TV than give them any money. I too contacted management about this and was given the same story about "lines." I'm thinking that Archstone owns Clearbay.

I've lived at Archstone Marina del Rey on Via Marina and Archstone Marina Terrace on Lincoln Ave. This review is OBVIOUSLY about Archstone Marina Terrace on Lincoln Avenue. Archstone Marina del Rey does not go through some middle-man company and you DO have options when you live here.
