Too pricey for what you get.

Overall, the apartment was nice but definitely needed air conditioning in the summer when the humidity is 100%! The maintenance staff were very fast and efficient. However, when they were changing ownership, they had the owners come in our apartment 2 times in the course of 2 weeks to "inspect" a typical unit. There are a lot of units and I'm not sure why we were the fortunate ones to be picked for both inspections.

Walls are very thin and you can hear everything that happens next door and I do mean everything.

The elevators were scary. Also, a pain to have the laundry rooms only on the 3rd floor.

There was no parking for guests and way too many dogs.

We didn't have any problems with security.

There was one earthquake when we were there and the entire apartment was swaying. I'm not too sure that the building would stay erect if there was a major quake to hit nearby.

The price isn't too bad for the Marina but it is still a rip off. Just a couple of miles away, you can get a one bedroom for almost half the price.

They did pay all of our utilities which was nice.

However, I do know that one of the tenants was filing a class action lawsuit against them for not refunding as much of the deposit money as they should upon a tenant moving out of the building. (We were offered a settlement later)

Also, the salty air is nice for a while but it ends up being too wet in the long run. Everything turns moldy almost instantly.

If you want to live by the water for a year or two, then this might be the place for you but I wouldn't recommend staying there long term as the rent keeps increasing due to no rent control.

Santa Monica offers rent control, so you might try there if you don't want your rent to jump astronomically when your lease is up.
