All in all, I love it here...

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
This is our first apartment, besides 2 1/2 months at the Archstone, but we visited every other complex in the area. We've been here since Nov. 2004. We have an apartment on the water, so street noise isn't an issue. The patios on the first floor are huge, which is one reason we chose this place, even though the living/dining/kitchen areas are tiny. Our view is wonderful from every room--close enough to the main channel so that we can watch the boats there come and go. Yes, the building is old, and our apartment was "renovated" the cheapest ways possible. We've not experienced plumbing problems, although the new, low-flow toilets can clog easily if we're not careful. The soundproofing isn't good, but luckily our current nextdoor and above neighbors are quiet.
I haven't checked the spa lately, but last time I did, there was only one jet operational! It's true that guest parking is ridiculously limited, but at least we get two parking places with our two-bedroom apartment. In some of the complexes around here here people have to pay extra for the second parking place.
Maintenance and management are only fair, but that could be because they intend to sell. Prospective buyers did come through this month. The trend in the Marina seems to be to tear down and rebuild taller and nicer. The middle class could be squeezed out, which I regret. But while I can still afford it here, I intend to enjoy it. The Marina is a great place to live.
