Not worth it at all

Lived here 1 year. The location is nice, but the noise is horrible - especially during the summer when the windows are open. The walls are paper thin and you can even hear conversations with neighbors next door. No A/C, and these buildings trap the heat inside, with virtually no ventilation. My place still smells of paint from 11 months ago, and the water is dark brown at times, filled with rust (they still have the old galvanized plumbing in all buildings). The electrical bill during the winter is astronomical - over $130 (and I didn't use the heat all the time). Service guys are friendly, but it doesn't appear they do much. The management is horrible - the place is run by "elderly folks" who cater to "elderly folks." (the complex is filled with them - so if your under 35, beware!!).
From what I hear, the place will be torn down in a year or two - something they have are doing to two other apt. complexes in the marina this year.
Overall, I would NOT recommend living here. With the bad management, dirty water, high electrical bill, hot interior, noisy environment - I would recommend many other Marina del Rey apts. before this one. I am quite easy to please, so trust me on this one - stay away from Del Rey Shores.
