AVOID THE DOCKS AND APARTMENTS (at all costs)
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 4/19/2005
Years at this apartment: 1995 - 2005
Constant noise from the construction, is supposed to end sometime in 2006, but the people running the slips don't know anything from their own greed. Also had a boat here for years, but was told to move the boat (in mid 2004), so this year I decided to also move and rejoin my boat in another marina/apartment complex. I didn't want the boat to stay at marina harbor anyway (even if I had been given that option), the new docks are sideways to the westerly winds, and I'm told really hard to get into in a strong wind. If you get an apartment here, and have a boat, don't bother to bring it here, unless the boat is an 80 foot mega yacht, brand new or built after 1995.
No A/C, termites are a problem, as are nosy neighbors, and the constant smell of weed in building A that I had to put up with for years. The buildings are supposed to be torn down just after the docks are finished, but in my opinion the "jet fuel/exaust" stained buildings should have been torn down years ago. Not sure how things are on the Tahiti way side of the property where the more expensive condos are.
The dockmaster is a total jackass, and his management people are "outsiders" from Newport Beach. They are a management company called Bellport, and the docks are run seperate from the apartments. They are not boater friendly, nor do they really encourage you to actually use your boat. It's more like bring the boat here, pay our high rents, but we don't want to see you. They are a total nightmare.
The only plus side have been the people in the apartment rental office, they always treated me fair. They have been helpful and have thrown nice resident parties over the years.
