Keep Looking!

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I am still living at Marina Harbor but hoping to move very, very soon. I would not recommend it to a friend.
1. The office staff is unresponsive, uninterested, and not empowered to help you even if they wanted to. The customer service I have received from them has been really below average. They are expert at passing the buck and never resolving an issue.
2. The gym that is provided to residents is totally and completely inadequate, particularly given the huge number of people who live here. Only 8 or fewer people can work out there at a time. So be prepared to wait and wait. There is one eliptical machine, 2 recumbant bikes, and three treadmills. There are about 7 or 8 weight machines, of which the majority are geared more toward men's workouts than women's. There are no freeweights available.
3. The hot tub/pool areas are a huge source of late night noise problems, which the management refuses to deal with or resolve. According to the lease agreement, these areas are supposed to be closed by 10:00pm. However, I have been awakened numerous times at 2, 3, even 4 in the morning by drunken revelers and have waited up for up to 40 minutes for security to come and boot them.
4. There is very little storage in these apartments, and no free storage is provided. This is particularly problematic if you have multiple bikes, as I do. Be prepared to make your porch nothing but a parking lot for your bikes and other storage items. I think that for $1450 a month secure, safe, bike parking should be provided. I am not willing to park my $2500 bike in the unlocked "bike corral" they provide.
5. These apartments are ugly. Welcome to construction from the 1960's. And I don't mean that in a cool, retro way. Be prepared for an all matte white, shotgun cubby hole with only one window at the end and beige carpet throughout. Every guest that I have had here comments that the hallways look like the "Overlook Hotel" from The Shining. That should tell you something right there.
6. The maintenance staff is always using some stinky chemicals. I don't know what it is but this apartment complex is filled with noxious chemical odors almost 100% of the time. If you are sensitive to chemical fumes as I am, and actually enjoy the smell of fresh air and the outdoors as I do, then you may be most unhappy with what you will be smelling here.
Summary: If you have $1500 to spend on rent you can surely do better than this medicore, sub-par place.
