Used to Love it, Now I Don't

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006

I've been living at Marina Harbor for about a year, and I am seriously considering not renewing my lease. Everything was great for the first few months (i.e the move in) and it has gone downhill from there. The management is increasingly rude & belittling, I have NEVER been treated so poorly by people in an apartment management office before. I had the problem that another commenter posted on - about the carpet stains - about 2 weeks after move in - these ugly dark spots started appearing all over my cream colored carpet! Ew! They cleaned it right away. 2 months later, the same thing happened, when I moved in they said they'd be willing to replace it if it happened again, this time, they just refused to return my phone calls. It took 6 calls to the office over 2 months period to FINALLY get maintenence to come and 'take a look' at it. He said all he could do was clean it, and that it would not be replaced.
One day, I came home & my door mat was gone (along with everyone else's in the hall). I called management & a woman (very rudely) said - "Read your lease agreement, there isnt supposed to be anything in common areas." I asked her where the rugs had been put, and she said "Where do you think' The dumpster!" I was shocked. There was no notice given (as they usually do when there will be a sweep of the garage for any bikes that are chaned there), and the woman was a complete jerk. Several other people I know were also very upset (some had lived there for years with a doormat). And WHAT apartment doesn't allow door mats - especially with such light carpet inside!'
I know I'm rambling, but I do like this place. The rent is decent, the area is beautiful & the unit's amenities are great. It makes it really hard though when you have to deal with such rude management, it makes me wonder what they will do next.
I do not reccommend this apartment complex to new renters. Rents are also increased on aregular basis. (They are also beginning MAJOR rennovations soon, so it will be pretty noisy & dirty).
