Flea infestations, black mold, and construction...oh YUCK!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
First of all, the place looks like a constant constuction zone (how attractive) and waking up at 8:00 a.m., 5 days a week to drilling and hammering is not exactly my cup of tea...not to mention that I can't study in this noisy environment (I'm a full-time student). It's intrusive and it seems that we have no privacy (they have kicked us out of our apartment several times to install cables/wiring for internet and cable television that don't even work). Construction workers keep parking in our parking space, leaving us absolutely nowhere to park our vehicles. The leasing office told us the construction would be over in 1 month when we moved in a year ago. Guess what' It's still happening and has been non-stop for at least a year.
We had black mold growing on our bathroom wall. We had them come into our apartment, praying that they'd take care of it (we all know that black mold can be detrimental to everyone's health, sometimes with permanent and/or fatal consequences). We come home to see their note stating that it was tested for black mold and mildew...in which it was neither. First of all, sorry buddies, but I know what black mold looks like and I know the circumstances in which it grows in (the bathrooms are tucked away into a corner of the apartment and have no ventilation except for a stupid fan which you have to leave on constantly to keep the bathroom dry [assuming people take showers every day]...and even that doesn't work...plus, the wall in which it grew on is the same wall where the pipes for the apartment's toilets are). Second of all, if it wasn't black mold or mildew, what the hell was it'! Careless I tell you...careless. They did attempt to clean it up but now there are still faint, icky black spots on the wall. I won't be paying for that!
We came home yesterday from a 6-day vacation (in which our pet cat stayed at a relative's house). Marina Harbor's maintenance crew had started tearing down the window/balcony area of the apartment right next to us. We walked out onto our balcony, noticing all of this dust and debris that the maintenance crew had carelessly left for us and within 5 minutes, WE WERE BOTH BEING ATTACKED BY FLEAS! We brushed them off and ran inside and noticed that there were so many fleas jumping around on the carpet by our balcony sliding glass door. Meanwhile, while we were both freaking out, our poor cat (who is an indoor cat and has never had fleas since we adopted him over a year ago) was being jumped by all of these fleas, and he was jumping around, avoiding the carpet at all costs (we came home 45 minutes later from buying flea treatments to find him hiding in one of the kitchen cupboards).
We called Marina Harbor's Residence Services twice...NOBODY CARED. The maintenance guy that was supposedly being sent out never showed up. Nobody called us back. The guy even said that it was possible that someone couldn't be sent out until the next day (in which I demanded that they either pay for our hotel or that we'll gladly switch homes with him and he can sleep in our apartment with the fleas). Marina Harbor caused a flea nest to be released into our home and didn't man up and take care of the problem. We ended up treating the apartment ourselves, which took about 6 hours, and we are still combing fleas out of our poor cat (his flea treatment seems to have not kicked in yet and we've yanked at least 20 fleas out of his fur). We each have about 15 to 20 bites on us and Marina Harbor could care less.
I know one thing is for sure: We will NOT be giving up our $500 pet deposit to pay for defleaing services at the end of our lease. We won't pay to take care of a problem that Marina Harbor caused...and refused to clean up.
So, heed my advice: Unless you like constant construction, the crappy environment, and fleas attacking you while you sleep...DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! Don't say I didn't warn you!
