I will always remember the nightmare of living here...

The absolute disrespect of tenants by the management here is beyond belief. I feel emotionally abused by these people. They are currently forcing out long-term tenants in hopes of raising the rents to stratospheric levels. The rest of us are just waiting to get our "notices." I have heard that they just shove a "vacate" notice under your door. They don't care if you pay your rent on time and never complain. They just want you out so they can turn over the apartment for more money.
I would be willing to pay more money if this place was worth it, but it is not. Despite the "renovations," which are nothing more than cheap cosmetic changes to a delapidated complex, this place remains poorly maintained (the black mold other reviewers have spoken about is real; asbestos in cracking ceilings; dirty carpeting in hallways; refusal of management to change old carpeting in apartments). There are real security problems here, and there is no security to speak of, just a lone guard patrolling from time to time.
If you are planning to move here, take my advice, as a long-term tenant, and others. Don't do it no matter how desperate you are to find a place. There are much better places.

Your comments are not true - I love this community, we have been here for almost 3 1/2 years now. I think that all of the negative comments posted are from mostly people who have lived here for 100 years and are afraid of change and increased rents. This area is one of the nicest in Los Angeles, and even the Westside. Where else can you got to almost any wonderful restaruant and wear flipflops, and jeans, but eat great food in a cool atmosphere? I will pay full price for this area and I do think Marina Harbor is worth it too. I agree that it has been a mess around here during the construction....but we have not had an increase in our rent for over 3 years and our friends who live down the street have had over $400 in rent raises over the same 3 years. I feel that is reasonable for living through this construction! And again, we are happy that it will be ending soon, but we expect to stay on for years to come. We love it here!

I agree with the author of the review. While it is true that the AREA is nice, the places to eat are nice, and the view is good, there are PLENTY of better complexes. I have lived here a couple years and they are terrible; I'm moving when my lease is up. They treat you like dirt here. The management is the worst I have ever seen. They couldn't care less about anyone or anything here. DON'T RENT HERE.

Author's statements reflect the true feelings of every tenant I have talked to here. I have lived here over 11 years and moving out once my lease is up. The management is rude, dishonest, and unresponsive. Upon reading some previous reviews on this site I saw a note from the leasing manager to contact her with any issues. Mind you it was a "cut and paste" response, and just repeated for every comment and concern posed by the tenants. Well, I did call and left her a message about an issue over three weeks ago. She never called me back and the issue is still not resolved! Typical Marina Harbor behavior pattern! And it is true, the rennovations are extremely superficial. Inside the units is still the same disgusting mess lurking its way to the surface, true reflection of the management behind it! Mold situation is ignored.

Marina Harbor is the worst. Disrespectful management (bordering on threatening since they kick people out for complaining too much). It is no mistake that so many apartments here are vacant.
