Marina Harbor Apartments
< Prev Review | >
I just moved out of Marina Harbor because I bought a condo in the Marina. Yes we paid a lot of rent, but we had an amazing view and an amazing apartment. We would not have left except to move into a place we own! The other residents are nice and we made a lot of friends, many people have lived there more than 10 years which says a lot!!
Our lease expired and if we had stayed and resigned our lease our rent would have remained the same. If we wanted to go month to month it would have increased $250/month which was disclosed to us when we signed the original lease.
We just got our security deposit back and we were only charged $95 for carpet cleaning (and we had pets!!.) We are extremely pleased with this as we have had many bad experiences with other places taking every last time they could.
Sure there are annoying little things that happen here like them putting new HE washers in the laundry room or changing the keys. But overall they are minimal and acceptable. Anyone who is miserable here would be miserable anywhere. Check this place out for yourself. It is the same 3 people that post negative responses to every positive review written on here if you look closely. And I bet they are people that have lived there forever, if they hate it so much why don't they LEAVE'''

They must be having trouble renting apartments again. Whenever there are a bunch of vacancies, some Marina Harbor management person gets on here and posts one of these glowing (and untruthful/unrealistic) reviews.
This place was a dump...is a dump...and will forever be a dump.
Look elsewhere.

Same 3 who post negative response? Hardly. I lived there--two years--and MOVED. I loved my apartment, I loved the view. The management, however, was pitiful, unresponsive, uncaring, unprofessional, generally worse than you can imagine. Unless they have hired a completely new management team and purposefully made a valiant effort to change their habits, it is difficult to imagine that the place has changed for the better.
If your experience was good, you are one of the lucky few. Perhaps you didn't experience 2 feet of water flooding your apartment because the lady upstairs decided to flush dead fish down the disposal, plugging it up, and then leaving the water on all night--and management did absolutely nothing in response. You must not have had the delightful experience of having your car towed, even though it was in its assigned space, because management did not keep proper records. You obviously did not experience the pleasure of having your car vandalized weekly, as many of us did, by a tenant who was vandalizing the cars and then trying to blame her neighbors in an attempt to have them kicked out--and management's first response was to blame the victims--asserting that they must have done something to deserve the vandalism--this went on for months, with multiple cars being vandilized on multiple occasions. They finally evicted the vandal after tenants put in their own expensive video cameras and caught the lady-- this was after Management had promised that they had a vido system-turned out it was only half-installed and not turned on. The list goes on...and on...and on. Like I said, great views, but horrifically terrible management.
Like I said, you appear to be one of the lucky few. Either that or a paid shill. I find it difficult to believe that the character of that place has changed---from what I experienced and learned from others who lived there, management is completely uncaring, unresponsive, and the most unprofessional anyone is likely to ever experience, and in a place as big as L.A., that is quite a feat, un-noteworthy as it may be.

It sounds like you had bad neighbors, which is not the managements fault. When we moved in there was saw dust in the drawers b/c our place was completely renovated, I complained and they sent someone the same day to clean it. Our blinds loosened after an earthquake and I called them and they were repaired immediately. The repair guys always wear shoe covers and are extremely polite. The staff in the resident services office faxed every last document I needed to purchase my new home for me and did not question a thing. We had several week long visitors and never had anyone towed. If these newly renovated apartments are a dump I'd like to see where you live now and what you pay for it!!
One thing that really bothered me was the bikers that rode through making nose some Tuesday nights, which we complained to the management about and it improved significantly. Another thing was that they made it so that each building has separate keys so I could no longer enter other buildings friends live in with my keys. But really those are not HORRIBLE things!!

Oh please. The management at this place if horrific, and there are no two ways about it. Yes, the repair guys are great, the leasing staff is fine (after all, it's their job to get you in), but the management is awful. They are completely nonresponsive, they blame the tenants for all the problems, they write you "correction notices" that threaten you with eviction if you don't put a saucer under a plant, they are rude and lie to you every chance they get. How many times did you ask to see the manager or assistant manager only to be told they are "on the property?" Well, I can tell you I did and then saw the assistant manager walk out of her office. The only reason anyone lives here is the view. This management sucks, and like was said before, anyone who says otherwise is either very lucky or, more likely, a shill for management.
