Mariners Village is full of restrictions. They have all sorts of rules for every minute detail. For example, constantly warn us our balconies are "out of compliance" because we decorated our balconies with lights and plants.

But they don't enforce important things like guest parking, so residents are hogging up all the spots leaving your guests with nowhere to park (your friends will never want to come visit). Even though it says "2 days max", I've seen cars parked for months in the same spot. Don't dare to park in their precious leasing office spaces though, they'll tow you literally within 15 minutes.

They also don't enforce security. There are no gates here so anyone could get in. We have people from other places come use our pools and tennis courts.

The landscaping here is beautiful though. It's breezy here and the location's great. It's also fun to see ducks and squirrels walking around beside you.

For home entertainment and computer gurus, beware! They have an in-house cable system that is basically DirecTV, but they charge $40 for 40 channels. If you're going to rent here, make sure you are facing the proper direction for your own satellite dish.

For high-speed Internet access, your only choice is Verizon Avenue, which is not the same as Verizon. VZ Avenue brings in several T-1s into the complex, and all the residents share them. After 5pm, your speeds are down to 400-550kbps. Speeds never top over 1Mbps even though they advertise 1.5mbps. T1s go down frequently so you will often see speeds below 100kbps. Don't bother trying to get any other DSL providers. They have manipulated the lines so other providers can't get a clean signal (this incldues Covad and Speakeasy).

If you don't mind not having choices and options, this is a great place to live. But if you like to have some freedom and not feel like you're living under ---- rule, look elsewhere!

If there were no rules..then everything would be havoc. Chew on that.

Sounds like somebody is upset they got a patio notice! If they didnt have a standard then anything goes. Get over it!
