Watch out for the sewer lines backing up on the first floor!

Awesome grounds. It is like living in Disneyland! Great dockside view of the marina, waterfalls, etc. Fresh air. Not much guest parking, though there is paid public parking across the street from the entrance. Sponsored social events were very nice. Parents would have their babies in wet diapers in the hot tub. The tubs often would not have safe levels of chlorine and be either too hot or cold. Get some test strips from a pool supply place. There is going to be construction noise depending on what area you live there. If you are in a high turnover building the workers and paint fumes will get to you. I was pretty lucky with neighbor noise, though you know when they are having sex. Security was lax when I was there. There is no gated entrance, anyone could enter the grounds, plenty of places to hide. Cars stolen from underground parking. Check police reports. I saw a man hiding in a water heater closet in the laundry room once. They will charge you for repainting when you move out. Big problem: 1st floor apartments prone to sewer backups. Pipes are old, tree roots get in there. Long time residents get used to it or leave. We're talking tub backs up with neighbors sewerage and overflows! I've got pictures. Management reimburses reasonable replacement costs for damaged goods, that's it. Some residents make a little money off of that so they are happy. They say that the pipes are old, that kind of thing will happen, if you don't like it move. Maintenance will admit (off the record)that there is no building safe from it. Ask first floor residents and you will find quite a few with stories. Not all of course. I'm sure someone could review that they had no problem, but if it does happen to you... 2nd and 3rd floor do not get this problem, pay more money. Ask to see the apartment's repair history on their maintenance department's computer. Understand that you will NOT get a full refund of your deposit if you only live there a year, no matter what. Cheap carpeting will get soiled. When I lived there the deli and gym were closed for construction most of the year, hopefully not now. Clubhouse is awesome, though I think the wide-angle lens used for the photo of the media room is hilarious. Poor air circulation in there. No cable when I was there. Community Satellite service. MV is a great place to have company over. Have them come in one car. Management knows all the secrets. Be nice to them and they might tell. If not, try to get stuff in writing.
