I stayed at the Oakwood in the Marina for four months in 2003.
I had no problems or complaints other than some issues with the laundry room. However, the day I moved out, all the laundry rooms were fully renovated, so hopefully that's been taken care of.
The pools are great though somewhat crowded.
Nice gym and billiard room.
Same goes for the bbqs. Parking was okay, but if you come back late at night, you might be left without a space.
Everything was safe, secure, and clean.
Some of the neighbors were super creapy, but that is probably true of most places in LA.
Contrary to most horror stories in LA, because Oakwood is an international brand, and not subject to security deposits, I didn't have any of the sort of move-out problems that many people testify about.
I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in LA for less than a year, but it might be a bit pricey for longer than that.
