Pretty good, with some unexpected problems
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/5/2007
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
My company is paying for my stay here, so I don't care that it's a pretty pricey complex. I think a small 1 bd is around 3200 per month.
The complex is pretty good, I haven't had much problems with noise even though my apartment is not on the top floor. There is a pool, nicely landscaped grounds, and so on.
However, when it comes to those small but essential things, this propery fails. I trully hope they improve on those things, as it could be a really good place to stay. What were those "small things"' One is that our cordless phone in our apartment (these units are fully furnished) didn't work due to battery in it being bad. We asked for a new one and that one didn't work either - same problem. Then I asked for yet another one, but this time I didn't want another dead batter so I asked for a simple corded phone. That one didn't have all the numbers on it working. Then I asked for yet another simple phone (which I could buy for 5 bucks but don't have the time to do it), and they bring, but people I call can hardly hear me... And every time you call, it takes about a day or two to get the thing done, hence this has been going on for three weeks now.
Then the wireless internet in the place doesn't work about 30-50% of the time, and it seems to happen mostly just as I am home. Internet didn't work any of the weekends I was here or only worked sometimes. Then it wouldn't work on some evenings and so on. Being very busy, I really had many issues not being able to check my business email and so on. Hence if your business depends on good internet connection, this place can't offer that. It is ridiculously unreliable in that respect. So much so that once when internet wasn't working, they couldn't even tell us when and if internet would start working again.
Very similar situation with cable TV which also doesn't work about 30% of the time. I planned on watching something on TV that I've been waiting for for days, and that's the evening when cable TV stops working. Next evening - same. That weekend, just as I needed to rest a bit - same... you call them and they don't know what to tell you.
So if you are coming to Marina del Rey just for a long vacation, then it's a good place to be, although I hear some apartments are a bit noisy; but if you're here on business and depend on reliable telephone and internet, this may not be the place for you.
Oh one more thing: the laundry room is often flooded as no one seems to care that some machines don't work properly, so I fell and injured my leg pretty badly... called them about it, and still see the laundry room flooded almost every day. qmzu4EHcaGAPVCPw2Fai
