Lived at Villa Ventia from 1996 to 2001. We had an unbelivable view of the main channel with a large community courtyard that extended back to our patio. A perfect unobstructed view down the main channel with every boat coming in and out of the marina passing our sliding glass doors. Fireworks, sunsets, pelicans, the bike bath, Fisherman's Village next door and wonderful management (at the time). This was the nicest and friendliest place I've ever lived. All of our neighbors were our friends and we would have community BBQs, chili cook-offs, cocktail hours - just a great environment.

And then a big corporation came in and took over. They threatened to tear the place down to build luxury apartments. Huge, ugly yellow flower "containers" were placed on the courtyard to "beautify the place - which blocked our view of the boats and the water from our patio - everyone hated them. New neighbors began moving in who were not as carefully selected and who did not fit the community. Malcontents who complained about people BBQing, enjoying cocktails on the patio - all the things people had done here for 30 years and gradually it just changed, many not so noticeable things fell into dis-repair while superficial things were "upgraded" Our friends (many 20 year residents of Villa Venetia) began to move away. After a couple of years of this decline - we too moved. But it was great while it lasted. Sure miss the sunsets over the ocean with sailboats passing by and pelicans gliding over head . . . from my patio chair.
