The management is ridiculous. I've lived here since the first day tenants were allowed to move it and they've got a completely different staff over the past year. Unfortunately it was mostly a downgrade, the maintenance staff is awesome though- the grounds look great guys, keep it up! The office is filled with a bunch of gossipy girls who seem to have no customer service skills what so ever. They are catty and rude for no apparent reason, example: a woman in our building purchased special baby formula and received a notice that her package was left in the office.. Later she went to the office and was told the delivery company was wrong and they never left it (the girl didn't bother to get off her a** to check, she just "knew" nothing had been left that day). Weeks of phone calls to UPS and still no resolution until one day the woman is notified she has has a package sitting in the office for over a month and it will be thrown away if she doesn't pick it up. RIDICULOUS.
Also, if you have a dog, DO NOT MOVE HERE. They will try to reel you in with our fabulous yard and open grassy areas but BEWARE! We were just given notices that if you let your dog off the leash or if your dog barks too much it will be taken by the state and you will not be able to own a pet for 3 years. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP! Dear Jefferson at Marina del Rey staff, Sometimes dogs bark, its instinctual. P.S Dear Neighbor, knocking on my door when I am not home to get my dog to stop barking will NOT make my dog stop barking...
Speaking of notices, now that all the units are rented out they sure love to make flyers in the front office with all that spare time. We went on vacation for a little while and came home to 7 or 8 different flyers plastered to our door. Some of the topics included bike storage, dog poop, air conditioning use, and an invitation to a staff thrown pool party. The bike notice was to let us know that our bikes would be given to charity if stored in the stairwells (which no one really uses). The funny thing with that is that when residents move in we are told to chain them to the bars in the stairwell because they have no rack available for us.
There really is so much more I could go on about but the other reviews all mention the questionable safety and security, frequent screeching fire alarms and the new ghetto tenants. One of my last grievances is guest parking. They have about 20 or 30 spaces which always seem to be filled. Awhile ago we got a flyer (surprise surprise) stating that all cars parked in a guest space longer that 48 hours would be towed. There has been a creepy white rapist looking van with 4 flat tired in a guest space for about 6 months now. Maybe instead of making flyers all day you can save some trees AND be productive and call a tow company ladies' Thanks..

your review is full of hate and lack of fully understanding and consider others. Yes, I mean selfish. Than again, who is NOT selfish. True. Dogs do bark. Just like cats meow, and people talk. However, if a not well trained dog kept barking all day and or bark as soon as they hear people walk by,... you tell me, if that is a well mannared dog. So much for high class and quality living! If your dogs are well behaved, then no one will bother you. My neighbor had 2 dogs, I see/hear her training her dog almost everyday. Her dog was quite ill-mannared when I first moved in, bark as soon they hear any sound. It actually scared me a bit (the dogs were quite big... and I'm very sorry, I'm not that in to big dogs). But after a while, seeing her putting her efforts in training her dogs, they slowly became very very gental and good mannared dogs. They stop barking at anything and everything, people walk by, they won't go crazy and jump on the door and scratch the door like they are about to jump out. She trained them well.
And about the guest parking thing... how do you KNOW "White Van" = Rape van? You seriously had been on the internet for way too long. LOL! Why don't you spray paint "FREE CANDY" on the side of the van? (yes, I think it'd make it funnier, and they might move the truck! who knows HAHAHAHA!) anyways. Some of the guests have more than 1 car, or they had 1 extra car that they have no where to park. So they suggest to people to park at the guest parking space if there are any avaliable spots. However I believe I have never received any flyer/notice about park more than 48 hour is a no no situation.... I had friends drove across the U.S. to visit me for a week, they parked their car there and did not move it for about a week or so. So does this mean they should towed my friend's car? That's just plain stupid logic! They are being nice send you important NOTICES and invite you to their PARTY, and you pretty much threw their good intentions to the dump! People like you should really start to re-think and be more thoughtful about others.
Remember, things change, policy change, yes, contract do stay. But, remember we are all human, we make mistakes, sometimes we forget things or just feel lazy... I'm sure you have had the same feeling too. They may go back on their words here and there, but mainly, they are either being told by the local police station to STOP allowing it, or it IS what happend and some people (as you said earlier ... you know which people...) just like to ignore the rule, broke the honor system/privilage that they had given to us when we signed our lease thats why they had to change their policy.
As for dogs on leash...... I agree with this one 100%...while I know and understand how dogs likes to run around freely and will not run away from the owner and or will listen to the owner... but please be considerate of some people who just don't feel ok to be around with dogs. I know you can say, they know it's pet friendly apartment, so they don't have to live here, its their choice! But think about what it was said... that is just flat out being inconsiderat of others. This is an apartment, you SHARE. If you don't want to share, bare and considerate of others, I suggest its best you to buy a house of your own and live there instead. Maybe not now, but I just think it'd be your best choice.
I personaly don't think this apartment is 100% the best apartment ever, but I don't think this place is a lie or a dump. However, the neighbors here age range is a bit on the young side, and I had got pranked by random neighbors or their kids before. It was upsetting, but yes, I tell myself, this is an apartment. If you know what I mean.
