I have been a tenant here for 2 years and have decided to leave. The place was much better before Archstone took over and now they are raising the rents like crazy and not doing enough to maintain the standard. Hopefully you will find my opinion honest
and helpful in making your choice.

Here is the good.

1. Its very nicely located. You have shops, grocery, movie theaters, eating place, the marina etc etc within walking distance.

2. Its close to the 405, 90. Overall its a great great spot. You have to deal with Lincoln Blvd to get in which is a pain at times. Fiji Way its not a through-street anymore in case you plan to use it to cut through.

3. Marina Terrace I has a washer dryer in the unit.

4. I have had good experience with the service staff (not the leasing group). They have always been helpful and courteous.

The Bad - Minor details that you should be aware of/pay attention to.

1. Make sure you take a look at the Units. They are oddly built and most of the rooms are not rectangular, kind of trapezoidal in shape. I have a small round dining table and I can barely fit it in the "dining area"

2. Their Internet Service really sucks. They switched to a new provider and it looks like its a 1-person company. I have had outages of upto a week at times. Get DSL.

3. There is no cable here, only Directv. You have to sign up with Clearbay communications and they charge you $25 to give you nothing extra. Infact, they dont even offer HD transmission. Get your own dish. Its legal. Many have done so.

4. The elevators are broken quite often. I have been stuck once and I have seen many others experience this thrill.

5. There is storage in the garage but its $60 and above.

6. Not that I have a problem with this but its a apartment complex and there are students living there so it gets noisy. If you cannot deal with that, this may not be the place for you.

7. I think the security situation has gone south.

Overall, I think its too expensive for what you get. Depending on your situation it may be a nice place. I did not mind my stay here but you need to be aware of some of the things before you move in.

Be careful when you sign a lease. The price may seem tempting with a move-in special but at the end of the lease, you will feel the pain of the new rent.

Where are you moving too? This dump was the cheapest apartment I could find in the area.. (marina del rey, playa del rey, westchester, manhattan, etc...)
