To begin with, there really is no limit on the size of dog you can have, although the rules are very clear that they must be less than 35 Lbs. We have neighbors that go to a local college. They not only have a huge dog, but they leave it at home while they go out at night (not just the weekends). I am repeatedly woken up at strange hours in the morning by a barking dog. And once he starts, he doesn t stop. The barking is so loud it seems as if he is in my bedroom. In addition to this complete disrespect for fellow tenants, they throw regular parties. Nothing can be done to prevent the music from vibrating my bed.

To top it all off, there is no one that will do anything about it. To be fair, the apartment complex has hired a security company. However, their service is horrible. When called at 1 or 2 in the morning, it takes them at least a half hour to get to the complex. They then call and say something like, I hear the dog, but I can t do anything about it, or, similarly, We hear the music, but no one is answering the door. Apparently they leave a report with the complex, but to no avail. The dog still barks regularly, and I m so tired at work I can t concentrate. And this is when the security company answers the phone, which is only about 60% of the time.

It would be nice if rules were enforced. I d be happy with just a notice on the door asking to be more courteous. But alas, if you choose to live here, expect no help from anyone.
