I like this place

I have lived at Madrid for about 6 months. I feel very safe here. It is well lit at night and the gates close at 6pm when the management go home. I have lived in a lot of apartment complexes and I see a lot of things that were built into this complex that you don't find anywhere else, such as double paned windows to keep the noise out & water sprinklers for fire in every room. I got a discount on my renters insurance because of those. I live on the Los Alisos side and it is a very busy, noisy street. When I have the windows closed, I really can't hear the traffic (of course I don't always have them closed and the traffic noise can get a little annoying). The walls aren't as thin as a previous review. I hardly ever hear my neighbors. Yes, I can hear when a toilet flushes if I am in the bathroom but I could in every apartment I have ever lived in. My bedroom is right above 2 garages and I really can't hear it very much when they open them.
I actually like the maintenance crew. I had my sink back up on Christmas Day and had to call them and they came right out. They have a 48 hour guarantee on maintenance.
Now, management...I haven't had a problem with them but I haven't really had to deal with them on anything. I love the leasing agent they have now. She is very friendly and helpful.
Parking is bad. There are limited spaces and a lot of people do not park in their garages like they should. I have seen the management do a few garage inspections so I know they are trying to keep a handle on it but it comes down to the residents doing what they should and not everyone does.
Like I said, I have lived in a lot of different apartments and this ranks pretty high on my list. My son may be moving out in 6 months and I am more than likely moving into a 1 bedroom here.
