We went to look at The Promenade Apartments on a Saturday. We were walked around and shown the ?floor model?, the fitness center, pool, and the pricing. We were pretty happy with what we saw so we decided we were going to move in. We filled out all of our paperwork that day and were set to move in on August 1st (29 days). We came back a week before we were to move to sign our lease and look around again, so we checked out the fitness center and pool again while we waited. Then we signed our lease! On the day we moved in, I went and got our keys etc, went up our new home, put the key in the door and burst into tears:

1. I could fit my hand and arm in the some of the holes that were in the walls! Umm, did they not see the holes when they came in to inspect''' I found out NO ONE INSPECTED OUR APARTMENT BEFORE WE MOVED IN!!!!!!!!!!!

2. A lot of the base boards were not painted; they were brown wood.

3. There was glossy paint in the middle of the wall that was painted with flat paint so there was a big glossy circle just laughing at you every time you walked into the room!!!

4. The nice air-conditioned fitness center is NOT air-conditioned; they have two small windows and two large windows that they keep open BUT one of the big windows has no screen so they don?t let you open that one. There are 2 treadmills, a bike, a stepper and universal weight set that is impossible to use when there are kids running around unsupervised. We actually saw a young child get his/her finger smashed by falling weights! The smell in there is horrendous!!

5. The sparking pool and spa can be seen from the fitness center and at 7:30 A.M. I saw a couple having intercourse in the spa!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally killed my work out!!!! We NEVER went in the pool!!!!!!!! Nor did we enter the pool area again!!!

6. Parking SUCKS!!! You get one covered spot (like most places) but you have to hike through the ghetto side of the apartments to find a spot!!!

7. The security staff is even more ridiculous than maintenance! They are TOTALLY TOW HAPPY!! One of our cars was towed with the permit in the proper location! Security said they couldn?t see the permit because the back and side windows were tinted; they carry flashlights and I know how heavy they are to lift to shine in the window LOL Or maybe there could just be a bit more lighting in the parking area!!!! My boyfriend missed work on Saturday because we had to try to talk to the apartment manager to see why his car was towed (you don?t even want details on that) then we had to go the tow yard to get his car (a 3 hour ordeal).

8. One side is complex nice and quiet and the other is full of ?trashy? people; I watched people walk away from the dumpster with things that I threw away; I mean entire families!!! I give to goodwill and all, but if I wanted someone to have my old belongings they wouldn?t be in the dumpster!!!!!

9. There were black marks on the high ceiling and walls!! I was told those could stay there because they are not important; I did FINALLY get someone to remove the ones on the ceiling after 3 weeks of nagging!!!!

10. Dried glops of paint that dried while rolling down the wall were in sooo many locations in the apartment.

11. The maintenance staff is a total joke!!! If they don?t feel like removing something from the wall they just paint over it! I guess dead spiders and their webs are just too heavy and are an inconvenience to move out the way so they just paint right over them. The previous tenant had a door stop at the bottom of the door that was fastened by some sort of sticky tape so instead of scraping off the tape they just painted over that too! The fixtures were covered in paint and the tile and grout in the entry was worse!! I was told by a maintenance guy to just write down on my walk through what I see is wrong and I won?t be charged for it when I leave! And how could I forget to mention that there was paint all over the carpet!!!!!! We were supposed to have a red accent wall but with our new couches and personal items in the apartment we told them NOT OPEN ANY PAINT IN OUR APARTMENT! Can you blame us''''

12. The closet that was supposed to have been fixed came crashing down one afternoon and landed on dishes that were handed down to me by my grandmother!!!

13. The landscaping is the only thing that is kept up on a regular basis!! They take better care of the fountain in front then they do of anything else. Spiders are everywhere but at least they keep the ants out LOL

14. Nails were sticking up out of the cupboards so during the time I was lining them I was sliced open two times!

15. The appliances are ?brand new?!!! riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!! They have knobs on them from the early 80?s and they (the oven and stove) are way too big so I had to open the refrigerator (14.4 cubic feet) door to open the oven. There is also a drawer and a cupboard that you cannot use because the oven door sticks out so far that they are blocked! The broiler and oven didn?t even work!! When it was finally fixed (after a couple of weeks) we had to leave the apartment because of the smell and smoke that was coming out of it!

16. There is no pantry or anything remotely close so your bigger food items have to lie on their sides! Basically you have to pick, room for dishes or food!!

17. The counter top was not secured to the wall and we were told it couldn?t be fixed, so every time we turned on the dishwasher we heard ?clunk, clunk, clunk?! Umm, couldn?t they just attach it to the wall! Is it NOT possible or do they just NOT want to do it''
18. Nails strips in the laundry room were not nailed down so I stepped on them soooooooooo many times; I thought I was going to need to get a tetanus shot!!!

19. The laundry room had trash that was left by the construction or maintenance staff (who knows which one did it) behind the washer and dryer! I couldn?t move it to get it out myself but why was it back there in the first place'!'!'

20. Big Huge Black Hairy Spiders webbed around our door just about EVERY night so in the morning we would walk into the web and the HUGE SPIDER

21. The management is the BIGGEST JOKE of them all! Getting help and getting things done in timely and correct fashion is like pulling teeth from an angry pitbull!!! They would not provide us with the phone number for the MAIN managers. They say they are only allowed to provide the number to their voicemail system and it just so happens that they don?t return calls!! I waited two weeks to hear back from them and they still didn?t call me back!! Of course I am not sure if they know that they are listed in the phone book and on the internet (www.anywho.com) LOL!!!

Pass the buck? is their motto! They say things like, ?It wasn?t our staff it was the construction guys? ?It wasn?t our staff it was the security staff?. Well pardon me for thinking like a business woman but, I am sorry - you selected them, you pay them, and you continue to use their service so they are YOUR responsibility!!!!!!!! I cannot tell you the inconvenience they have been in my work life and most importantly my personal life.

I just wanted a nice place to live for the next year while we look for a house and we found it?once we moved!!!! With the help of our attorney (which I recommend to all that live in the SLUM LORD?S PALACE) we are now settled somewhere else and have NEVER been happier!

Oh by the way, did I mention all of this happened in a 28 day period''!!
Do yourself a favor and stay clear of The Promenade!!!
