When we first signed our lease back in August, I was extremely hesitant to move in after reading the horrible reviews on various websites. My roommate and I have lived here for about 4 months now, and (knock on wood) so far so good! The complex is beautiful and it is always a joy to be greeted with the mountains and palm trees. My boyfriend and I frequent the hot tub at least 3 times per week and we constantly meet new people who absolutely love where they live.

The apartment is a great size; however the kitchen cabinets are miniature. I have to turn my pots and pans sideways to get them to fit under the counters. There is also no place to put your food. They have converted the tall kitchen cabinet into a broom closet which makes absolutely no sense because there is no where to put your food. I have installed a plastic organizer so we have somewhere to store dry goods.

Things occasionally break for no reason such as the towel rack, faucets, and blinds but it is an old complex. The maintenance requests have always been taken care of within a 24-48 hour period and they are extremely helpful when it comes to broken items or inquiries. The only thing that worries me is when the tenants downstairs flush their toilet, it makes our water run.

Noise has not been an issue, people are typically respectful and don t play music too loud on the weekdays. I have rarely had trouble finding parking, and the few times I have I just park at the leasing center and leave before they open the next day. I am not scared to walk alone in my complex or from my car to my building.

They have a great fitness facility and every thing is very clean and well kept. They have also just started a direct deposit for your rent, so I no longer need to hand deliver my rent checks. I really do love where I live and I am floored with all these negative reviews. I have personally never had an issue and neither has my roommate.

I feel that the lack of positive reviews is just because typically individuals who have a good experience will not take the time to find a website like this to praise the complex, but it is a completely different story for those who have had a bad experience.

I'm one of those people who would definitely post a positive response...if VDL deserved it. They don't. Some of what you say is true, about the structure of the building. But the current owners are charging very high rent and not putting much of it back into the property. Just wait until you've been here a year. They're very insistent on a year's lease, every year, and they raise the rent more than the average apartment complex. The penalty for ever daring to go month-to-month is a whopping $400 a month increase. There's no call for such greed.
