Drug Dealers and Gangs

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005
I lived here for two years. At first it was ok until we started to settle in. Then we started to notice the Drug Dealers and Gangs that would hang out through the main drive. Tons of children that are unsupervised. Trash bins to overflowing and electical fixtures that needed fixing but were not fixed unless I did it myself. I was reprimanded for fixing the hall lights in my apartment. They never attempted to repair them after three requests. I fixed them because the wires were hanging out. The ceiling fan also had problems with poor wiring. I know this because I repaired the ceiling fan in the dining room too. The mananger was nice to me but the asst manager always had an attitude. Personal problems I think and she would bring them to work. One day while picking up my mail I could hear her yelling on the phone since her office was next to the enclosed mail boxes.
The average tenet stays at these apartments for about 2 years. The purpose of this is to keep the rents high. I noticed on an ad for El Dorado that a one bedroom was going for 1060.00 or so' I paid 1025.00 for a 2/2 only three years ago. They try to maintain an constant turnover rate so that the rents can be increased. They do make a commision on apartments they rent out. Do the math.
If you are planning on staying at an apartment longer than 2 years, I would not recommend El Dorado Pointe. Also the tagging, trash, drugs, gangs and stealing are a constant here. If you have a family and want someplace safe, I would suggest you look elsewhere.
If you notice on their site you will not see any actual photos of the inside of these apartments. They are not as big as they claim to be. There is a video on Youtube if you want to see it. But it too is distorted to make the apartments appear bigger and more spacious than they really are. I had a heck of a time getting furniture in and out of my 2/2. Most of the stuff I had had to be brought in or out through the patio entrance. And if you get an upstairs apartment, you are basically screwed unless you rigg a pulley to get your furniture through the patio entrance.
As a general rule, landlords aren't exactly in favor of rent controls. There are plenty of tactics they use to work around rent controls, including trying to force out current tenants so that the landlord can adjust the rent to market rates, thereby leasing to higher-paying renters.
