Like many who have posted, I was attracted to Americana due to its excellent location and amenities (mainly the heated junior size olympic pool). However, the cost associated with these amenities cannot be expressed in a dollar figure. The apartments are fairly shabby and in desparate need of renovation. As a consequence of woefully underlit grounds, non-existent security and poorly designed carports, the area is a criminal magnet. I witnessed a grand theft auto in progress and when no one answered the "security" number provided by the complex, I called the Mtn. View police. They arrived quite quickly but the criminals had departed (after invading one of the buildings i might add).

The police informed me that such crime is a matter routine for Americana and the complex accounts for most of the car related crime in Mtn. View. To pacify the residents, the complex arranged for a neighborhood watch meeting with the police. Nothing came of it of course except more damning statistics about the lax security at Americana. Maintenance at the complex is virtually non-existent. Workout room machines remain in a state of disrepair indefinitely. Pool maintenance is poor and the pool is often closed due to safety issues with inadequate or excessive chlorination. Washing machines remain broken for months. Apartment maintenance is slightly better but arranging that forces you to deal with the incompetent and arrogant staff. They are all smiles and happiness when you are on the tour but rapidly treat you with contempt as soon as your deposit is in their hands. Speaking of deposit, I'm still fighting to have mine restored after they fabricated numerous post-moveout charges and never performed a pre-moveout inspection.
Avoid this complex.
