I have lived in this hell/rat hole for 2 long years. I renewed the lease the first year because I was new to CA and was busy with work. But this year I am so done with this horrible place. Everything here is rotten and seems to be 100 years old. Most of the time the washer and dryer do not work and need repair. Recently the laundry charging machine was stolen. Ha haha haaha Unbelievable! Go to the office to charge the laundry card (their cycle is so expensive. The entire washing and drying cycle costs around $3) and you will see that there are repairs being done and the office is closed. The staff is extremely arrogant and does not seem to put notice about absence most of the time. Ask them a question and they act as if we asked them a loan' For one year we could hear the couple upstairs bang each other. There is loud music going on all the time. No one cares! Theft is like synonym to the prometheus name. Maintenance never responds to needs on time. We scheduled inspection last month and no one ever showed up. This time if no one shows up then I am going to call my lawyer. I wonder if we will ever get our deposits back. To be short and precise DO NOT BOTHER TO RENT IN THIS GOD FORSAKEN APARTMENT! There are better apartments out there. Go for it. Right now it is a buyers market.

I'm a few months from the end of my lease here and I'm starting to see what you're all talking about. There are better places out there and I'm going to find 'em.

I agree with all of the above and could say even more. Basically, it all comes down to incredible displays of arrogance and selfishness demonstrated by Prometheus management in so many ways. Time and again, I have listened to other residents whose leases are almost up saying the same thing -- that it's time to leave. Most are still planning to rent, but definitely somewhere else. I have recently left and am glad I did. (Haven't been in my new apartment long enough to give feedback, but will after a year.) Everyone seems to like the location but there are many other apartments nearby with much better reputations for courtesy and appreciation of their tenants and they have the same convenient location. No matter how much Prometheus may "talk", we still haven't seen enough "walking the talk". Or as my wise mother once said, and it still is true: "Actions speak louder than words". When Prometheus management isn't looking, (it's not wise for tenants to speak up where management can hear because mgt. totally believes in retaliation) ask people who are already residents for at least a year about how they like living at The Americana, particularly about how many promises are kept by the management about maintenance and remodeling schedules. To those of you who are reading this before settling on a choice of where to rent a good apartment -- as incredible as it may seem to you, all of the angry comments about Prometheus property management at The Americana are true. Prometheus management puts on a great show of friendliness, etc. before you sign up for a lease. Afterwards, you will regret that you didn't notice the filthy hall carpeting, dingy hall walls, laundry machines in disrepair, and the last-minute paint jobs on sinks, bathtubs and counter tops in kitchens and bathrooms to make the apartments appear to be well maintained. The paint wears off in a hurry and you will be accused of abusing their property when they know very well that their gloss-over deceptions will not hold up until past the end of your 12 month lease. And guess who will pay for the next glossing over for the next tenant after you? You guessed it -- YOU! Please look before you leap! OH, I ALMOST FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN ANY BUILDINGS NUMBERED HIGHER THAN BLDG 5, YOU WILL BE TREATED TO DISRUPTIONS DUE TO A RE-ROOFING PROJECT DUE TO START VERY SOON! IF YOU RENT AN APARTMENT ON A THIRD FLOOR, YOU WILL BE RELOCATED TO ANOTHER APARTMENT, MOST PROBABLY IN ANOTHER BUILDING, WHILE THE WORK IS BEING DONE. THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE ASBESTOS RISK TO YOUR HEALTH AND BELONGINGS. THEY ARE HOPING TO AVOID A REPEAT OF THE SUCCESSFUL LAWSUITS THAT OCCURRED AFTER THE TOTAL CHAOS DURING THE RE-ROOFING OF BLDGS. 1-5, ESPECIALLY BLDG 5. SO, IF YOU CHOOSE TO RENT AT THE AMERICANA, I WISH YOU LUCK! YOU ARE GOING TO NEED IT!!
