Yes, the smell alone should keep you out. The management is rude this place is not maintained at all because the maintenance crew is bad. My car got broken into twice, not a safe place to live. It was the longest one year of my life.

The staff-on-the-carts are downright annoying. What purpose do they actually serve? I see the staff riding around in them - yet our storage gets broken into, the lights continue to dim out and pipes are leaking on top of our cars. I think the idea is to give an illusion of progress!

Well, I'm not sure about the smell, but do agree with all of your other comments! Well said! Maintenance has been a huge disappointment. They seem to be unable to complete a job on the first try and then they either forget to come back to finish it, or they surprise you with an unannounced visit without your permission when you are out, and even then, it isn't for certain that the job will be completed. Most use the wrong materials or don't know how to do something. It seems that the property manager likes to bring in totally inexperienced labor and give them very brief training before they are sent out on their own. Their attitudes are arrogant toward the residents. It's actually better to just see what you can do on your own rather than put up with late or missed appointments, lack of professionalism and just plain incompetence. The property manager brags that she "got rid of" all of the previous maintenance staff before Prometheus and now she "has her own people". She can keep them, but just keep them away from the Americana! The prior maintenance staff was great-- courteous, competent, and they even seemed to enjoy their work. The Prometheus maintenance crew is expert at cruising around in their little golf carts, but they seldom get much done around here. They spend most of their time driving those little carts and talking on their cell phones. It's party time for Prometheus, while the residents who indirectly pay their salaries go hungry for decent maintenance. This never happened during my ten year stay at the Americana until Prometheus came. When are they going?!!!

All property maintenance personal are required to be certified in the state of California. Check to see if these people are licensed.
