Slightly better than living in your car (depending on the type of car you have)

After spending several weeks looking for a short term (1-2 month) lease for the summer, I was really excited to find this "low price" apartment in such a convenient location. It was one of the few places that had short term leases available at all and it even had a pool! The manager, who claimed to be a Stanford graduate (although even he admits that it was on a football scholarship), seemed very (if not too) nice.
He was very carefree about the whole process from signing the lease (two of my roommates never even signed their copies) to getting the rent to him on time to the fact that there was lead in the water among other things (he said: "you wouldn't believe the kind of test results we get on the water around here.... but it's ok... just run it for a few seconds before you touch it and don't forget to put a filter on the tap"). While going over the paperwork, he told me that he usually only deducts $100 from the $800 deposit for "required" carpet cleaning unless there is severe damage to the apartment, but I only received $300 back (around 3 months after moving out - longer than I actually lived there).
Although he claimed that my apartment had been remodeled and that he had installed new carpeting, the "new" carpet had stains when I moved in and dirt seemed to seep up from underneath even when we didn't wear shoes. The kitchen had been "remodeled" by basically painting everything white from the particle board used as sliding doors for the cabinets to the counters.
My boyfriend moved into another unit managed by the same person. His garbage disposal and dishwasher never worked and were never repaired. There were opened bottles of alcohol in the fridge and tongue scrapers in the bathroom when he moved in.
Although I had an assiged parking spot that was directly accessible from my unit, the spots were so small that the mini van that parked next to me often forced me to crawl over from the passenger's side to access my car.
Overall, the other reviews are very accurate. I would recommend this place only for a short term stay and if you are very tolerant of poor maintainance and noise (or else want to get your car fixed by some young neighbors).
