Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
First of all, this place seemed to be a place sent by God. It's initial appearance is absolutely wonderful! Lacy was great and she remembered my name each time I came in. But then, it was like a scary movie. Everything starts out just great but then the eery music begins to play in the background while everything around you falls apart.
I have lived at this apartment since June of 2004 and this is what has happened thus far:
1) My alarm breaks! It is completely dead. I call the office and ask for it to be fixed. Two months later and still nothing. During these two months I have people jumping my fence in the middle of the night. I have had the cops out to my place THREE times. And one time, the cop was well aware of the complex and its many problems. He even went into explaining about a huge gang that operated out of the exact apartment i live in now. Finally, i get a call back from management about my alarm. They go out to fix and much to my surprise, it still did not work. They had to come out uuhh, five times i think and it still does not work!!! I gave up!
2) My garbage disposal broke.
3) My shower head is coming off the wall.
4) My garage door would not open, causing me to be late to work!
5) My front door handle is completely coming off. Very safe i'm sure!
6) A crazy woman walked into my apartment, smelling of pee, crying, saying she was running from the police and stayed until i called the police to escort her out. Turns out, the lady actually lives in the complex and despite the numerous complaints about her barging into people's apartments and refusing to leave, she STILL lives there.
The funniest thing, I have been dog-sitting for exactly one week now. The dog has to stay outside while i go to work and apparently, my neighbors complained today (2/14/05). The management office called and explained that i was now being evicted or had one day to get rid of the dog. Rather interesting that I could call numerous times about people jumping my fence and another tenant barging into my apartment uninvited and I have a dog at my aparment for one week that barks intermittently in the morning as i leave and I am threatened to be evicted!
As for security, it looks like they only have one or two security guards for a 400 apartment sized complex. I see the same guy walking around the complex and seems to be so overworked and tired that he could fight himself out of a wet paperbag to save his life, let alone mine or any other tenant in this complex.
Oh, and the walls are very thin!!!!!!!!
I would honestly have to say that while it seems like a suitable place for you and your loved ones. I would suggest investigating other options a bit more. It is in a bad aread considering you have low-income people living just over the fence. Believe me, I am hispanic myself and have lived in some bad areas, but if I am paying as much as I do, I feel I should get the security I pay for. Hell, I could move back to Oxnard to have the same damn problems for cheaper! mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
