Wow it's a little comforting to realize that a lot of people had the same experience with Canyon Club that my husband and I did, a terrible terrible one! I was starting to think we were the only ones. Where do I even start, lets see we went out of town for the weekend, came home to find our bathroom flooded, because of a leak coming from upstairs, found out maintenence went into our apartment while we were gone and apparently just felt like watching our stuff get ruined because they didnt do anything to fix it for about a week after we came home! During that week everytime they took a shower upstairs our bathroom turned into Niagra Falls, sounds funny but when you are the one cleaning it everyday it's a different story. It took them 2 weeks to come fix a broken window. There were constantly people digging through the dumpster and trash everywhere near there. The laundry rooms were gross. My husband and I had our car stolen and my husband even had the new SUV he bought towed off the property! We had called them when we got the car to get a sticker to park, but they didnt have time to deal with it that day, told us it was okay to park in the empty space next to my car, and then towed it! We had to constantly hear people fighting outside and came to find out later that one person's apartment across the walkway from ours was raided by the FBI, I bet Canyon Club doesnt advertise that to new residents. I spoke with the cops, who might as well live there too, they are there often enough, and the said that the area surrounding was one of the worst in Oceanside. My husband was stationed at Pendleton at the time and he had to stay on base late at night and train sometimes for weeks without coming home, and I did not feel safe with him being gone, thank God for my pit bull though. Someone wrote that they were told that you couldnt have a pit bull, well when we moved in there were no restictions, and I saw several people that had pit bulls, and if you look at their site now it says they dont have restictions but they do seem to change their minds on a whim so be careful! When my husband and I moved out they kept our deposit then tried to charge us some outrageous amount saying we damaged the walls the carpet the stove, just a bunch of stuff that wasnt true and then said during the 7mos we were there we didnt pay all our rent. Some friends of mine that lived there ran into the same problem with them. They had their rent withdrawn from their bank account and always got notices to the door that they didnt pay their rent, or they would withdraw more than they were supposed too! Just about the only thing I liked was that some of my husbands and some of my friends lived there because its such a military commuinty. We did most of the time have really nice neighbors, most in the military too, but other than that its not a good place to live, it's a nasty horrible place to live and the few that said they liked it were either at a completely different apartment complex than I was or they were in some serious denial about what was happening around them. Save yourself some serious grief and DO NOT MOVE IN THERE!
