We've lived here for 7 months. When we moved in, the screen door was broken and after three service calls still does not work that well. The dishwasher has never fully cleaned a load of dishes, after 4 service calls. Both porch lights have gone out, but they are quick to replace those when we call. They are quick in general to respond to service calls, they just don't always fix it.

Management is a joke. Other than the tour when we first visited, they have not gotten one thing right the first time. I planned our entire move from Florida so I had to call each time. They had a fire in the main office and did not update their phone number anywhere, so for the three weeks prior to our cross-country move, we could not get in contact with anyone.

Only once have they actually called back when they said they would. No follow-up unless you press the issue.

They charged me for full rent in the middle of the month once, after rent had already been paid, with no notice to me. I wasn't the only one, they said 20 people were charged. That resulted in a bunch of over-limit fees on my checking account that were finally resolved but are still on my record.

Just recently we signed a lease extension, and they overcharged us for the first month. It went downhill from there, resulting in $75 in fees on my checking account that will stay on record, and I had to lose time at work to go to the office and talk to my bank to resolve it. Every time we called during the 6 days it took to resolve it, they would give us the wrong information each time--wrong rent, washer/dryer charge even though we have our own, etc. Every time we would have to correct them.

For both the original lease and the extension, I asked for a copy and was promised one "once the paperwork was completed". After several calls I finally received the first one, and still have not received the extension lease after 3-4 weeks.

Management tells you things contrary to the written text of things you have to sign. i.e., they don't care about the condition of the rug when you move in (was told this) but you sign a form saying that you will pay for any cleaning or damages to the rug at the end of the lease. Or, there is a pet fee applied to each pet, but they only charge one. It can be in your favor sometimes, but sometimes not. I'd rather they were consistent and by the book.

No real problems with noise, and the grounds are kept very nice.

The fitness room is in shambles--both treadmills are old as dirt and are not calibrated, they give the wrong info when you run. The treadmill belt is so old there are two tracks worn into it, where if you don't run in those tracks you're throwing your ankle out.

My apartment is on the parking lot, so it's well lit. The rear apartment entrances seem very confined and unsafe.

There is a beautiful view at the rear of the complex, where we are located. They group dog owners together though, so not only is there always poop everywhere but other dog owners that are not too courteous let their dogs tangle up with your dogs leashes when letting them out. They don't seem to think this is bad.

This may be a universal problem, but the dumpsters get overfilled and people constantly leave furniture and matresses at them, which makes it impossible to get to the recycle bins. Homeless people rummage through the dumpsters every morning, in a pattern, one to the next.

Overall, I would not recommend Island Club to anyone.
