I laughed when I read the other bad reviews because they are all true. We are currently looking at other apartments because our lease with Island Club ends soon.

The biggest problem we've had here (in my opinion) is constant insects. When we moved in, we had fire ants for about 5 months. The exterminator came, gave us useless traps, and that was that. We finally bought the bug bombs ourselves and they temporarily did the trick.

That was, until the cockroaches started six months ago.

Now, we're not dirty people. I am neurotic about not leaving food/dirty dishes out and we keep a pretty tidy place. I told the manager about our roaches and asked that our ENTIRE building be treated. They said no, but treated our unit which consisted of us having to remove everything from kitchen/bathrooms and cover with plastic so they could spray chemicals on the surface. No fumigation, no chemicals in the walls, just surface bug spray basically.

I let them, and of course, the roaches came back (since they're probably coming from a different apartment anyway). My husband asked that our entire building be exterminated, and this time they said they would. However, the other people in our building said they had never received notice and refused to be treated.

So now we STILL have roaches, and I've had it.

Other annoyances:

*The countertops are horrible. The appliances are old. The (beat up) linolium floor doesn't even extend past half-way under the stove.

*The walls have obviously been painted over about 25 times. You can see where they painted over hair/dirt/etc. Eww.

*The management told me, basically, that "these things happen in apartments" in reference to the cockroaches.

*Plugs don't stay in outlets they're so old.

*Pool isn't that clean, fitness room has all old and only sometimes functional equipment.

*Dumpsters overflowing constantly.


All this, but they still manage to find time to re-paint the speed bumps pretty much on a weekly basis. Interesting.

I am a resident of the apartment complex and have had the same problems,exept cockroaches but my worst experience was at the waterleaf with cockroaches.
