I would never reccomend living here

Years at this apartment: 2009-01-01 - 2009-01-01
I lived at the Island Club for a year and at times, it seemed like we had no problems. But now that I no longer live there? I look back and am so thankful we got away.
First, forget parking. If you get home after 7pm, and you already have one car in your parking spot, you will NOT find parking. There are not enough speed bumps near the covered parking so when you try to back out of your spot, people will speed up behind you and then honk at you like you did something wrong.
Second, this place is infested with spiders. I have never seen so many spiders in my life. And they don't do anything about them! The outside of our apartment was surrounded in spiders and I'm not talking about daddy long legs. These are huge hunting spiders and if you're not careful, they'll make webs and you'll walk right into them! When the weather changes, where do you think they go? Right into your apartment. I can't tell you how many HUGE scary spiders i found in our apartment. When we moved out, they said part of the reason they were charging us a $100 cleaning fee (I'll talk more about that later) was because we didn't clean the outside of the windows. Do they honestly expect me to climb through the bushes surrounding our apartment that our INFESTED with spiders to clean the windows? And considering they were DISGUSTING when we moved in? Ridiculous.
Also, fleas! I sprayed the outside of our apartment constantly, but no matter what, I was covered in bites, and we didn't even have pets. They don't do much pest control at all and I saw rats on numerous occasions, running around outside our apartment. And don't forget ants. Even if you keep your place spotless, they will come in because they never spray for them outside.
They will enter your apartment without your permission! Beware of that. Once they left a note saying that the following wednesday, they'd be opening the doors to check the locks. That same day I got the note, I had decided to stay home from work and while I was sitting on the couch, my door suddenly opened and there were two maintence people standing there. They looked at me, shocked and stuttered and said, "Oh we're just checking the locks..." I showed them the note and said it wasn't supposed to be for two more days. I was livid.
There are constantly people coming to your door trying to sell you things or get you to let them "wash your carpet". I've seen some creepy people around the complex and once caught someone peeking in our windows at night.
You can hear everything in the apartments around you. When we first moved in, they were like, "Oh I live here and I never hear my neighbors or their big golden retriever..." Yeah right. That worker later told me that she always heard that dog running around. I have heard my neighbors screaming at each other, dogs running back and forth across the upstairs apartment, loud music, etc. Don't expect quiet time at night.
Don't even think for one second that you will get your deposit back! When you first move in, have them write down everything and anything you see wrong in the apartment. They will try and rush you through it! And when you move out, they will find any reason they can to keep your deposit. Especially with the carpet. Everytime someone moves out, I always see them replacing the carpet. And why is this? Because if they say the carpet has to be replaced, you're not getting your deposit. They will pull the carpet back, find a spot and insist that it is a "pet stain" and thats it, they make you pay for the carpet. What if you didn't even have pets? Yeah, that doesn't matter.
And I'll just say, DON'T BOTHER CLEANING MUCH. Seriously, do not put any real effort into cleaning the apartment when you move. I'm not joking! If they find anything they say isn't clean, they will make you pay $100 for a cleaning fee. I cleaned my apartment for two days straight and they said that because of the outside of the windows, a hair in the bathtub (no joke, ONE HAIR) and a tiny spot on the top of the microwave, they were charging us a cleaning fee. They obviously aren't cleaning them very good though, because when we moved in, there was urine on the outside of the toilet and the bathtub was stained and dirty. Glad to know that we're playing $100 for it to not be recleaned, even if you did clean it.
Don't live here! You will regret it.
