I have lived here in this very apartment. There are residents that have lived here twice as long as that. When I moved to IC, it was from a very bad neighborhood in Vista. Having grown up in North County my entire life in a middle income type neighborhood, I know the difference between a good area and bad (Foothill Apartments, Vista). This in my opinion, is quality and it has become my home.
As it stands right now we have Jill here as the property manager (with Arcelia and Maribel in the administrative office) and Jorge as maintenance supervisor ( with Pedro, Alex, Jay, Fernando, Elvia, Jose and Karina - maintenance workers) and I could not be more pleased. When I call with a situation whether something to do with the office or maintenance, it is handled promptly and they are courteous to me, resolving the issue in an effective timely manner. When first I resided here I wasnt a perfect resident myself - noise. The office treated me correctly in those situations and I felt fairly. Comply or go. I complied!
This is my experience only and I will probably be here another 10 years because it works for me and its that good here. To me its an attractive large complex, the apartments are great and we're right across the street from the Sprinter! My numbers that I graded it with - say it all. The only 2 drawbacks are: Open parking can be a bit short in the evening and especially on the weekends and people need to pick up after their dogs. Thats it! :)
P.S. I have tried to read reviews/responses on here but I was a bit dismayed at the name calling of fellow posters and workers! Im not trying to take away from others experiences or their right to post it but my interactions with the aforementioned employees has always been professional, never unethical. My email address is posted so feel free to contact me.
Update: Sad to say but I shall be moving end of July 2010. IC has been my home and training ground and its going to be difficult to leave. Jill and Jorge are on top of it here and I cannot express enough my gratitude for making living here feel like a HOME. Thank you to all the staff both present and past that allowed me to stay for the length of time that I did - July 1998 to July 2010. I always felt safe here and confident in their abilities to handle any situation that would arise. Great little apartment!!!

Who knows the entire maintenance team, right down to the house keeper. My guess... Maribel wrote this. Could be wrong, but that seems close. Although, second thought, Arcelia?? Is that you?

Everyone has different standards of living; if you feel Island Club is so fabulous I regretfully inform you that your standards are below that of compost. I lived in Island Club for a year after hastily moving in upon my arrival to Oceanside and needing a place to stay. I grew up in Section 8 housing in Brooklyn NY; IC is a step up from that, which is still poor. I find it so amusing how the IC office staff comes on here to advertise there substandard community, but I cannot blame them, if I were paid to shovel feces, then thats exactly what I would do.
As for luckicharmz4ever, you can masquerade on this online community with your ever so eloquent grammar, but when it comes down to it if you have lived at IC for ten years, thats ten years of mortgage payments you could be making and building equity, instead of lining someone elses pockets; yet again everyone has different standards of living.

This "wheelchair" guy... gets his --- kissed... Ive seen it firsthand... mean of me to say this -perhaps, but true. Ive heard the office staff make comments about him and his he must have store employees put his beer on the back of his chair for him... and laugh. Its sad that he seems so loyal to slime like the office staff at IC... good luck with that tho

Well Im not the ""wheelchair" guy", Im the athlete and I ask for help when I need it however I am quite independent and fly all over this and other countries with baggage plus pushing racing chair from my everyday chair without help. If someone laughs, so what? That just shows how ignorant they are. His chair is probably more expensive than their car and I know who you are talking about. Unfortunately, after 13 years I am leaving. My sporting ways have accrued quite a collection of adaptive equipment and Im outgrowing the apartment as well as having business in another town weekly, sometimes daily. The only problems I have here are not with the staff but with the residents and the lack of respect for their neighbors. Not all, mind you, are loud but the few make their presence known daily with their cars, their drunkeness, their fights in the parking lots, their loud stereos and general disrespect for property and residents. Otherwise, the staff worked with me to stay and I could have had I not been involved in Charity work and obligations to sponsors. Island Club is a mixture of young and old, mostly military, and a great community. The staff have always been respectful to me and friendly. Jill and Jorge are awesome and Im going to miss them greatly. There will always be differing points of view on the property and the staff. Everyone is entitled to an opinion - even the negative ones, however there are a load of longtimers here and that says quite a bit alone.
jcberb - Disabled love renting so much better! Not everything is black and white if you would care to look around you. I do not relish replacing a toilet seal from a wheelchair. :-) Did you ever think there was a reason why I have been here so long? Not a fool! Im sorry if being well spoken, able to express my thoughts without negativity and the fact I am educated has bothered you. Seeing as you too have a way with some words, you could appreciate that.
