Be Aware of What You Get Yourselves Into.... Please Read

Years at this apartment: 2007-01-01 - 2008-01-01
This will be a very long post, reason being: the truth needs to be heard. This will be a VERY long review and took a while to complete but I don t want anyone to get into the same problems I did.
While I lived there, I had to deal with:
-Non-Resident s cars being parked in my covered parking on numerous occasions
-Men constantly cursing on their porch. On any given night, you will find them on their patios drinking beer and smoking cigarettes, which many times both beer bottles and cigarettes end up on the sidewalks.
-Many become drunk and for some reason find their way out of their home and onto the sidewalk fighting throughout the night.
-From 9:00pm-3:00am you will hear loud music booming through your walls if you happen to be near their apartment.
I felt like I was being TORTURED and TORMENTED day in and day out and had no escape from it unless I had to leave to go to the store. I shouldn't have to LEAVE my home in order to feel safe and have some peace and quiet. I had to move to a place that is about $400 more per month for about the same size apartment, just to feel safe and get some peace and quite. I was tired of having to hear this every night and deal with broken beer bottles on the back of my car or having to tell a eight year old child staying in my home to put on their headphones and connect it to the TV so that they wouldn t have to hear such profanity from outside even with the windows are closed . Or having to hear her tell me that she s scared of the fighting and doesn t feel safe.
And if you are a marine, please don t think I am pointing all the fingers at you since some people on these reviews do. Not all marines are the same, both my father has been in well over 30 years and husband is one as well. And if you live here, you ll know what I am talking about. I am just talking about the ones who take BAH for granted just to experience being on their own at the expense of others. Especially the single, young marines who get roommates. I just feel that the barracks served as good discipline to many marines who have just moved out of their home. And when they leave the barracks to go out in town, they need to make sure they are ready and can respect those who live around them since there won t be a STAFF SERGEANT or GUNNY to watch over them. They think they can do whatever they want. And yes, it may be exciting to have a place of their own, they have to remember that they're not moving into dorms or a party complex, they're moving into an Apartment home and they'll have neighbors. Having social get-togethers is fine, as long as they re moderate and they can keep control of their guests, and keep the noise down.
I happened to be a prior resident from there, and I can say that I would not recommend these apartments to anyone.
And I know that rent can be expensive and that the Island Club looks nice, but I can promise you (and I don t care if anyone comes on here and replies saying that it s a wonderful place to live) it s not. I honestly have lost so many nights of sleep here and almost refused to leave my apartment for fear of a break-in. I basically had to sleep with a kitchen knife in my nightstand. There are too many break-ins, parties, and robbery. I m being completely honest with you. It s not worth it to move into these apartments. They are a decent price and look great, but it s not worth the stress and fear. I m not the type of person that likes to move all the time, I was looking forward to living there for a long time but some things were out of my hands.
I recommend you look at the ratings on this site. Only 23% approve of Island Club, and almost 50 people wrote reviews. I m pretty sure the positive ones were written by the office staff (no offense to the staff, I know that s what you re supposed to do) but there are too many problems at the Island Club that seems that it cannot be resolved. Because they do not know how to listen to the complaints and RESTRICT certain people who move in and also some of the people who WORK there.
I found it very odd how there were numerous break-ins during broad daylight when everyone is at work. Meaning, there has to be someone who knows when tenants leave and return home and has to be someone no one would expect to commit a break-in.
Take it from me (and the other 40/52 people who wrote reviews) STAY AWAY FROM THE ISLAND CLUB!!!! And anyone who tries to defend these apartments, there are at least 40 people that wrote reviews who think differently. So I urge everyone who wants to still live here to read all of the reviews. And to the people at the office: negative reviews works wonders and so does word of the mouth.
PLEASE take everyone s complaints seriously! SAFETY is very important and needs to be addressed. It is DEFINITELY NOT A PLACE TO LIVE IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN. As you can see negative reviews will keep coming in all the time. I m pretty sure that there will be a POSITIVE review or reply written on here within the next few days from the office staff or a resident who probably lives in a magical tower somewhere on the complex who thinks that it s heaven and lived there for many years. But it s obvious that more people think negatively about the Island clubs than positively. More like 78% think negatively.
Point is please be aware what you get yourself into. Read your contract thoroughly. Take photos of your place.
Should you still decide to move there, be certain you know who lives around you. You should be sure they are living around families or older tenants since you may find it unbearable to live near younger ones as you will not get a moment s silence. and know that once you sign a lease, you ll need THOUSANDS to get out. Take a good look at the apartment that you re getting and check your apartment everyday when you get home from work for any signs of forced entry.
