Most positive reviews are anonymous, probably management

I can't think of anything good about this place except that it did give you ONE assigned parking spot. That alone doesn't merit this place the one star that I am forced to give it...

I made mine anonymously and I'm not management. At the time I had no problem. Now? There's never extra parking and maintanence has entered my apartment while I wasn't there when I specifically said they couldn't.

I had the problem of having them enter while I wasn't home against my wishes a number of times. I think it's the reason for all of the supposed "break ins" that occur so often there in the mid day. The crime rate there is excessive. Perhaps you should update your positive review.

Hi there!
My fiance, our ex-roommate and I lived at Island Club from June of 2007 to June of 2008. They tried to charge us with a bunch of bogus charges when we moved out and then tried to intimidate us into paying without ever seeing a single receipt, meeting with an agent for our walkthrough (legal right) or sending us the move out report. These charges included replacing the entire carpet and charging us for it. Their reason: one 1/16th of an inch spot of red watercolor, the others of which were removed by my roommate with warm water.
They are in the process of remodeling many of these mold-filled apartments and try to leave the previous tenant holding the bill. Based on our experience and the experiences of those Ive already spoke with, I believe there is a pattern of preying on tenants who do not know their legal rights and who would prefer to pay the exorbitant amounts or relinquish their deposit than dealing with them in court. They have a history of targeting military families, who do not know their legal rights, when they receive their deployment notice in some cases charging them upwards of $5,000 to break their lease. Just one of their many illegal scams. If you feel you have been caught in this scheme of theirs, read on.
We have a small claims court case for our single incident and we are collecting information to file a civil class action. Currently, we are looking for others who wish to share their stories to help us both prove our individual case and join in our class action.
If you are interested and wish to learn more, please feel free to email me at islandclubcomplaints@gmail.com. If you wish to just submit your story please find a link to the generic declarations document:
http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/forms/documents/mc030.pdf)
You can leave all the information on the top blank, and fill your declaration out below. It can be hand written or typed and if you do not have enough room simply continue on plain white paper, leaving a note on the first page as to how many continued pages there are. Sign the bottom and you can either snail mail it or we can meet in person. If privacy is a concern, please feel free to contact me and we can work something out. Please feel free to send me any further question you may have. Thanks to those who have sent your stories!
