My husband and I fell for Island Club's little show, they showed us around, and told us that it was further from base, so there were not many marines who lived there, and all that ass kiss stuff, well the day we signed the lease, they had the maintance girl show us to our apartment!! And let me tell you how many marines do live there! They are loud, they throw parties, and are an annoyance. Then 2 months after moving in, our 8 yr old healthy dog died. We lived there for 6 mo (only b/c we couldn't afford to break lease) and lost 7 dog total. The all had bottled water different food, and all started getting sick the exact same way! When I told management, the couldn't belive it, shocker right, but how else do you explain it. Every vet I've talked to thinks there is some kind of pesticide in our apartment. They offered us nothing, it couldn't be there fault right! It makes me sick to my stomach thinking that other people may being going through the same thing!!

Im sorry for your loss. Thats hard when an animal dies, no matter how old or how long we have them with us when they have become a part of the family. I used to work for a veterinary hospital in Vista. Had they all had their shots up-to-date and most importantly, on time? Parvo is a highly contagious extremely nasty virus and is deadly if not caught in time and requires serious hospitalization. I know, I've had to help care for such dogs around the clock. Its sad to watch them go thru that. 7 dogs in your apartment here? and they all died? How sad for you. I know we rely on other pet owners to be responsible and innoculate their pets as well, but in reality some simply dont do that. Maybe if they understood the seriousness of certain canine diseases, they would. If one of your dogs got it, then the others would surely get it as that virus lives on food dishes, blankets, whatever for up to 2 years or so unless cleaned with a bleach solution no matter different foods or bottled water. This is simply conjecture. I hope you find the answer to why and again I am sorry.

Did you really think you would find an apartment in Oceanside that didn't have Marines, living there!?!?! They go to Iraq and back, they deserve to come home and party!!! And don't you think after the 3rd dog you would've stopped bringing animals home!!

My husband is a marine and has been to Iraq twice, partying at 2am in a community that has families is a bit selfish. My husband is the one who kept bringing the dogs home, don't you think he deserved one to live after going throught what he did in Iraq! I don't mind living in a place with marines, the fact is that we were told that not many lived in these apts. They should have just been honest.

i live in the apartments and have a pet and live next to a marine, infront of 2 marines and i see them all the time and I never hear any noise. Im a Marine and never make noise. My dog is healthy (knock on wood)....Your in Oceanside, Ca. That is Marine Central. If you really didnt want to live anywhere near Marines no matter what the Staff tells you, you should of moved at least 1hr away from Oceanside. Thats the truth. I love the staff here, they are awsome and they work with me everyway possible. They are great people, 10 times better than my last apartment complex i resided in.

Marines are not the only ones who party, if you are not fond of Marines then grab a rifle and take the place of one over seas. Then you will be more gratefull. I am a Marine, I do not drink, pary, or smoke! Every person is different, some people make noise, others dont. Thats apartment living. Island Club apartments is a sub-standard over priced community, and that is the type of non-sense you will have to be subject to.
