I moved into IC in July of 2007 and stayed until May of 2009. I had very few problems while living there. Mostly minor things to include maintenace requests being handled slowly, and a lack of upkeep of the backside of the apartments trees and bushes. Not anything to really complain about until I moved out. During my time living there I had 2 small dogs. One of them chewed a piece of carpet to shreds, and they both had problems with going inside. I cleaned the carpet myself when I left, but there were still a few stains, and some damage done to the corners of the wall. (Also by one of my dogs, little bastard was a chronic chewer. Only downside of daschunds). I moved out on May 31 2009. I recieved a voicemail on the 12th of June saying that I had a balance due of around $450. Upon moving in I paid a security deposit of $300 and a pet deposit of $500. I knew my dogs had done some damage to the place, but it didn't seem like there was $1250 worth of damage when I left. I called back and was told that my move out cost was something like $750. I then inquired as to why I had a balance due of $450, when I paid $800 in security and pet deposits at move-in. I was told that they only had a record of a $300 security deposit being paid, and that I would need to pay them $450 by the 23rd of June or the debt would be sent to collections. I disputed the charge, and said that they needed to find my lost pet deposit. They told me they would have thier bookkeeper look over my file, and call me next week. Today, Thursday the 18th of June, I had yet to recieve a call. I called the leasing office and spoke to the bookkeeper. She told me the same thing, that they had no record of me paying the $500 pet deposit. I then asked her to look at my lease. She told me that she couldn't find my pet addendum on my first lease, but my renewal didn't show the pet deposit either. I probed her more, and my pet addendum from my first lease then magically appeared. It did in fact show that I had paid a deposit of $500 upon move-in. She told me she would bring it up with her manager tomorrow, and they would call me back. They are claiming that the first leases pet addendum is voided by the renewal's pet addendum, and that there is no record of the $500 deposit being paid. I advise anyone thinking of moving here, to keep ANY and ALL documents, and be very weary of the management office. I feel like they are trying to pull a fast one on me, and they might get away with it.

The island club will say and do pretty much anything to keep any deposit you gave them. I feel your pain. I'm glad we don't live there anymore.
