We lived here for 2 years due to being stationed here. This place was GHETTO!!!!I am glad we are gone. The carpeting was nasty when we moved in and it only gets worse. Someone got shot and killed one night outside, and I have also seen people trying to break into cars. The walls are very thin and we wake up in the night to loud arguments with other tenants. There is also a rat problem. He have a rat that lives outside and stays on the patio in plants and runs up the walls, and we also hear rats in the walls periodically. For a week my husband and I had to sleep in the guest room because we heard a rat that was fighting for his life in our wall, and eventually died and stunk up our whole house. Someone also tried to break into our apartment. I told the apartments about our broken window and they never came to fix it like promised. They also did not care someone tried to break in...they were just like "oh"...
There are drug deals going on and the parking lot here is used as a place to smoke up for people that do not even live here. There are always people roaming around the parking lot that look shady that are loud and sketchy. I can not count how many times I have seen the police in the complex, and arrests being made. I even was questioned once by detectives about a crime, that i knew nothing about...but still it was freaky. Make sure you properly discard any important documents because there are people that dig through the trash daily, and about 5 different dumpsters divers. There are also all these weirdo sales people that come to the door at least once a day.And many bible thumpers, selling you their church and leaving paper trash stuck on your door. We had to put a pentagram on the door to get them to go away. You can not even wash your car outside without getting harassed. This apartment complex is also far from the highways and its inconvenient. Driving down El Camino in the morning is the biggest pain in the ass. I lived here alone while husband was in Iraq and was scared to death at night to even walk up to my apartment. Not safe, stay away. The office staff there is also rude except when you first meet them and they want you to signed a lease. Also rent keeps going up frequently after lease is up. BEWARE. Oceanside itself is a little strange. Go somewhere else, and if you do live here do not choose Riverview Springs.
