Mold and poor maintenance

My husband and I lived in building 513 for 2 years. I chose one of their "remodeled" units which consisted of new carpet, new counters, and eggshell painted cupboards. We started to get mold spots on our bedroom walls after living there a couple months. I talked to some friends and they said mold is a big problem living so close to the beach, so I bought 2 dehumidifiers. After that the mold wasn't really a problem.

Over a year later, during the rainy season, our master bedroom window started to leak. Management contracted the job out to a maintenance company. Every couple days a guy would show up and work for 2 to 4 hours, it took him almost a month to finish one window. I had to complain to management 3 times.

A month later, the same maintenance company was contracted to install earthquake straps on the water heaters for the entire complex. The guy broke a valve on our water heater, but didn't both to tell me. Apparently if I spoke Spanish I would have known this but I don't so wasn't able to tell what he was saying to his boss. My husband gets home from work to discover we have no hot water. I go to complain to the management and she informs me that they already have a water heater ordered for us. I was so mad they couldn't just tell me when he had broken it so I could tell my husband to shower at work. We went without hot water for 5 days.

We really did love our apartment and the location was great but if you're not willing to complain right away then this isn't the place for you. After reading other reviews I'm greatful we never had a crime problem.

Parking: There isn't assigned parking and it could be difficult finding a spot at times. Usually that was only late on Saturday nights.

Noise level: The apartment below us would play music in the morning that had a good amount of bass. It never lasted that long. For 4 months we had loud neighbors next door. We shared a wall with and that was a nightmare. They would slam their door frequently and it would knock our pictures off the wall. Their TV was against that wall, we always cold tell what they were watching. They had 2 dogs that barked all the time. The manager even called the humane society on them for leaving the dogs outside with no shade and water on a 90 degree day.

Grounds: Always good upkeep on the landscaping. Other tenants had a tendency to litter so the parking lot would look trashy at times.

Safety: A couple times there would be creepy tenants that would hit on me when I was getting the mail but that was about it.

Construction: Nothing special.

Maintenance: Issues described above.

Office Staff: I think they did the best they could with the resources they were given or at least that's what they want me to think.
