Military wives! Please read this! You will make the decision that best fits you at the end of the day, but at least be warned and have some knowledge before moving in.

I found out about these apartments from my husbands friend that was in the Military.

Since I was miles away looking for an apartment over the websites (just like all of you are doing) I took my husbands offer up and took a look at it.

Back than in 2006 there were only about 3 reviews and 2 out of the 3 where bad ones.

I decided to check them out when I went to visit my husband.

We both liked what we saw and just went for it! The price was very affordable and the square footage you get out of these apartments I THOUGHT PERFECT! Oh and they said they are energy efficient as well.

SO we moved in Our 1st apartment! Let me tell you my experience But like I have said before You will do whatever you need to do We lived in these apartments for 2 years because that s just how it worked out for us.

Once you move somewhere it s not that easy to pack your things up and go especially when you have a Military husband who deploys and moving wasn t on our time frame with deployments.

Distance from Base: Great!!! Only about 15 or less plus you are in the middle of everything kind of.

Just keep in mind you are considered downtown in this area in CA.

So you will see a lot of things at night and you will have to be aware that your car may get broken into.

You will see cars/trucks/motorcycles (everything imaginable) flying down that hill! I have seen 2 car accidents on that hill in my 2 years.

Neighbors: I liked all my neighbors, they were all military families! Hey I don t mind that one bit!
Parking: I hated it! They only allow you ONE spot (one car) per apartments! I don t know about you but I have 2 cars (one is mine and the other is my husbands) and I refused to park any of my cars on the street.

And I never did! Even with the permit stickers! They were nice and I complained enough to get a sticker for both of my vehicles.

I just thought it was stupid to only get 1 spot when you have 2 adults living in a unit! Oh and FYI after about 7pm it s a lot harder for find a spot at times.

Mold: HAD PLEANTY of it! They told me before moving in that there is SOME mold from time to time, and that is only because there is NO AC in the units SINCE we live so close to the beach.

Since there was no AC they said the apartment isn t equipped with the best insulation and that is why the mold would appear.

Well after living there for a while I had a lot of mold underneath my bedroom window Having to move my bed to another area since my husband and I were both breathing the mold in while sleeping.

I cleaned it myself with bleach and dried it off, and it didn t work The maintenance guy came out 2 times to fix the same problem, he bleached it and painted it and it was NEVER resolved It was covered up but its still there and it will still appear.

Rooms: Well aside from the windows and doors being cheaper than dirt (thin as hell) the paint on the walls I had to wash several times because anytime anything was dragged on that wall it would leave marks.

The cabinets may be white in the pictures but are just painted a million times over to appear white and are actually falling apart.

Oh and sometimes you will get a unit with dark cabinets.

The bathroom is set up weird.

For the one bedroom at least, the sink is pretty much in your bedroom and your toilet and shower have its own little space with a door (thank god) Its kind of a weird layout if you ask me.

Noise: Well since the apartment is so old you CAN hear EVERYTHING you really don t want to hear.

I have lived in different apartments since this one and non of them are as bad as this one was.

Pets: They say no pets Yet the maintenance guy has a little dog You hear him bark all the time and he runs around sometimes.

I asked him why he was allowed to have one and his responds was: I told them I wouldn t accept this job if I couldn t move my dog in as well.

Oh and yes other people do have pets there too you can hear them all barking at night.

So its nice to know they are not strict on that rule
Pool: What pool' I hadn t used that thing in the whole 2 years I lived there.

It looks all nice and big in the pictures.

Its in a horrible location and its tiny!
Mail: You do get a lot of junk mail! They do have dumpsters right next to the mail boxes Which never really bothered me because I thought it was normal (1st time living in Cali and all) but its not but really it didn t bother me all that much.

Management: Rose and Lonnie are nice to people to whom they like.

If they don t like you I feel sorry for you! They liked me, so I didn t have any problems with them.

Although I must say they are not the most professional people in the world.

But okay to deal with as long as you are not on their bad side.

Deposit: Again this was my 1st apartment I didn t know what questions to ask about the deposit' Well you definitely need to ask if you will get ALL of your deposit back or not.

THEY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU to clean your own carpets they will charge you 80.00 bucks to get professionals in (which was not mentioned to me when I handed over my deposit) they will also charge you for paint.

So expect NOT to get all of your deposit back.

I would DEFINITELY ASK IN DETAIL what happens with the deposit when moving time comes! (I never did!- learned a lesson that s for sure)
Apartment: Check the apartment out that you will be moving into before signing the lease.

You get so caught up in the moment that you just don t think so ask to see the apartment you will actually be living in.

When you check it out Look around the trip around the windows and sliding door..

That will be your 1st sign of mold.

Also OPEN the kitchen cabinets to make sure they all are screwed together right (mine never were) Just little things like that that will make a difference to you.

Lease: We had a year lease We weren t sure how it was all going to play out so at 1st we had the year lease that we signed.

My husband had 2 years left in the service.

When the lease went up and my husband was getting ready to deploy I told them I need another lease for another year, and I needed it fast since my husband was about to leave and he needed to be on the lease with me.

They told me AT THAT time they weren t doing leases and that we are just going to have to be a MONTH-TO-MONTH terms.

Which I was pissed about because I KNEW we would be there for another year! I KNEW for sure and there was no reason to be MONTH TO MONTH when I knew! So when they raised my rent 10% it all made sense.

They did it so they can raise my rent 10%.

Had I of been on another year lease, they wouldn t of been able to raise my rent.

I called and complained and they said that BY LAW they can raise the rent 10% ONCE a year.

As long as they provide a 30 day notice.

So I was stuck paying 10% more on my apartment EVEN though I wanted another year lease.

So beware of that too!
Good luck with your decision making Over all NOT A HORRIBLE place to live But do know there are ups and downs with it.

That s all
Oh and you can find their corporate number on their actual website.

Google it and once you find it go to CONTACTS and its listed in there.

Its in CA
