This place is a fake and they try to get top dollar with little to show for the asking price after you give them the deposit. I am in construction and this place has painted shower enclosures (very bad epoxy job that flakes), bad door weather proofing and many holes at shower and pipe entry that allow for bugs to enter the home. Filters for air are never changed and a health hazard as mice, rats and roaches are common here. Craftmanship on counters is bad and are now falling apart due to bad adhesive and based on conversation with other tenants, they will charge you for this as if its your fault! Everything is electric, so you will get charged for high consumption by SDGE no matter how conservative you are. If you came in on a good deal (what would be more standard pricing for this dump)or you are on low income, they will take that from you and ask for more eventually even if a good tenant. Your car will likely get broken into and you will likely get a warning for something, as they have to do this to everyone here to show who is boss. This place recently had a triple homicide (three years ago), so they added in an entry gate, locked (no key use) all the exit/entry (so the kids can learn to jump fences) and painted everything.

It is a high priced dump here and thank the bad management for this, I had high hopes at one point...now I can't wait to get out. odusyNYCcZ7yL3Bj5JtG

Brother, what you write is only the beginning. The story you tell is a common one of many tenants that live in any of the hundreds of apartment buildings owned by AIMCO. AIMCO is America's #3 largest Slumlord. This is simply the way they do business. Pretty pools, crappy units (lots of mold), and slack-jawed office staff of low moral character who typically come from the mortgage industry and that have that famous AIMCO 15 minute smile. Deposit rip offs, evictions for legitimate complaints (especially mold), lots of theft regardless of uniformed "guards', and renewals surprises on contracts. This is they way they do business. The sad part is it is not working - Proof you say? Better Business Bureau (http://www.bbb.org) gives AIMCO a "F rating. AIMCO stock is 1/3 of what is was same period last year. So why the low rents? Why high vacancy when there are record homeowner foreclosures that need rentals? Rents are going up! Hmmmm? They should be experiencing record profits. In addition, endless law suits and huge consumer backlash on the internet. Just Google "AIMCO ALERT". You can also visit http://www.aimcoalert.com or http://www.malibucanyonapartments.com. The CEO Terry Consindine is a the full weasel scum. He is a far right GW Bush ass pal who was a minion for Repiglican party in the Colorado senate. Classic good ol boy corporate welfare recipient. CIA on staff and the whole kit-and-kaboodle.

It all makes sense, its always hard to fight when the landlord is in the power position on top of greed. The place is a joke and I do see this as an upper management problem and not exactly an issue with employees on sight. I have seen their hands being tied when costs/budget prevented the employees from performing work required by state laws and the health department. I wonder if their is any legalities to withholding their final rent to protect deposit?

Thank you. Finally an expert spoke out for their poor craftmanship.

When I lived there, I thought the staff were friendly. But during my move-out process, every one turned color. Not sure why, probably their bonus is tied to the move out charges? Or it is just what AIMCO does?

I know exactly what you feel. All the experiences you had with them, we had worse. I totally agree they are out to get you once you sign the contract, and you probably are doomed.

I have only one suggestion to anyone thinking to live here: Don't.
