1. We finally left.
2. Maintenance - horrible. Any problem will require constant follow ups and will not be fixed for months
3. Security deposit - portion returned 3 months after vacating - in violation of CA law

This doesn't surprise me AT all! It took me nearly 5 months to get my deposit back and the LAW is that it HAS to be refunded within 21 days.I've talked to at least 2 or 3 different people claiming to be the "manager" within the last 3 months alone. Wow, it must have gotten even worse as previously managers changed about once a year, but now 2 or 3 within 3 months, haha. Wow. This place used be so nice, but now the staff is so darn rude and if I could use worse words to describe them, I would. I had a good friend who rented a low-income apartment there and they days he went to move in with her moving truck in the parking lot and check in hand, she's told she can't move in and there has been some mistake. Luckily she was able to find a place next door at Arbors, which is a heck of a lot nicer, more upscale and has a much friendlier office staff.
Avoid Tierra Vista at all costs, unless you want to get sucked in, screwed and forced to pay a hefty penalty to break your lease. DO NOT plan on getting your deposit back. I had the place completely professionally cleaned by the people they recommended, provided a copy of the bill and still got charged for cleaning.

I too had to wait 2.5 months to get my security deposit check back. I told them about state laws etc. I was complaining to corporate when my check finally came in. I was so upset I just dopped it and let it go. One less headache to worry about.
