If you don't mind a huge gaping hole in the ceiling and a manager with a huge chip on his shoulder about something...

I lived at Villa Serena for 1 year in 2006. If the manager Christopher is still on staff beware!! Paid my rent on time, kept apt. nice (well except the hole in the ceiling of the second bedroom). A 5'x3' hole fell through in the second bedroom of our apt. 3 mths after moving in. A maintenance man was sent up twice in the next 3 mths to patch it up on for it to fall through within days both times. For the next 4 mths of the lease the hole remained in the ceiling. I spoke with Christopher several times regarding this problem. He would tell me that he had a budget and had already been up to repair it twice... as if it were my fault the ceiling were falling through! The second bedroom was unusable for the majority of the time I lived in this apt. When I demanded that it be fixed... not just patched again.. I was harassed by Christopher for having my brother stay longer then 2 weeks without being added to the lease. He was visiting for 3 weeks. After his vacation was over and had gone back home, Christopher moved on to my boyfriend.. who visited often but had a place of his own. I actually agreed to have him added to the lease with the promise that my ceiling would be taken care of... needless to say the hole was still in the ceiling when I finished my lease and moved out of that place. Should've just spent the $ and hired a lawyer. The grounds are beautiful and kept up but remember "don't judge a book by its cover".

You'll be happy to know that I heard a while back that Christopher died. He was one of the nastiest and most bitter people I've ever met in my entire life! He always claimed that the owners were responsible for most of the hateful (and often illegal) policies, but I don't think I believe that.
IF you do dare to consider signing a lease with them, do MUCH more than just look, talk to the new manager at length and get a feel for their attitude on things. I'd make a list of things and try to come up with ways to trip them up. I'd like to think that things have done a complete 180 since I moved out in 2005, since it is a beautiful place!
