The neighborhood is safe and my neighbors in the building were nice, with very few exceptions. The rent skyrockets every once in a while because parents want their kids to go to Gunn High School, so they can demand what they want. As a result, the rent goes up and there is a lot of turnover. The halls are horrendously dull and the hall carpet was never cleaned in the five years I lived there. It's only vacuumed - and not with an industrial vacuum so it's old smelling and not pleasant to walk into. A coat of paint and new hall current-colored carpeting would make a world of difference. The apartments are large and bright and noise is minimal if you are on the northeast end and side (shaded from sun). Life-sounds from Gunn HS include football games, Friday night dances and, except for some kid doing doughnuts in his/her parents' car at 3 a.m., the noise ends at 11 p.m. sharp! Not insulated well so the pool-side absorbs sun in Spring-Summer and you can feel the temperature difference on your body as walk down the hall.
