I was a tenant from 1996 to 2005. Then, I came back here in 2006. An attraction of this property had been a location. The original owner had cared tenants pretty well. However, after his death, his kids took over the management. They were pretty much interested in just making some money. In 2008, they have sold the property to a property management company, Vittoria Management in Palo Alto.

The new owner decided to upgrade whole building. I would think that they intended to fix the place up to increase a rent significantly. As far as I know, they executed the same strategy around 2000 in Palo Alto. Ok. That is their choice. But they started remodeling all of unoccupied units.

They did not care about the existing tenants. They were usually starting pretty noisy construction at 8am even on Saturday to push their schedule. I had to complain those noise. They just said I should leave if I don't like the environment. They did not care. So I had to leave.

The building is pretty old. The walls and floors are very thin. The plumbing needs to get updated. Those fundamental issues are very costly to fix. I don't think they would pay that. They were just making the face over.

If you are desperate to find a new place near the California avenue, I can not stop you. However, I don't think that it is not going to be any good deal. Also, you have to handle a greedy owner. It is your choice. But I would not recommend it to any of my friends.
