I lived at stanford villa for a total of 6 months, first in a second story studio and then in a first story 1 bedroom. both times i was pleased with the low noise level, the approachability and helpfulness of the staff. the tenants at stanford villa form a welcoming community, and often get together for a poolside barbecue. the exercize room is small (1 treadmill, 1 bike, 1 or 2 other machines) and sometimes there is a wait. as for some complaints i've read about noise from caltrain, as far as i know that's really unavoidable in most parts of palo alto where large apartment complexes are located, be it stanford villa or over by california ave. an example of everyone's friendliness: i became friends of the apartment staff and once i left, they assured me that i was welcome to continue using the pool. so basically, unless you want the exercise room to be your gym, i would certainly recommend this place.
